76&comma; described as a neighborhood fixture who had nothing to do with the drug dealing&comma; was blasted in the midsection just down the street from his home&comma; police said&period; He died later at Methodist Hospital&period;<br &sol;>&NewLine;Lacount Simmons&comma; 39&comma; was shot in the back and torso and died at the scene&comma; police said&period; Calvin Clinkscales&comma; 43&comma; was shot in the face and torso and also died at the scene&comma; police said&period;<br &sol;>&NewLine;Brown’s grandson Janeil Smith-Brown&comma; 28&comma; said Cooper’s lack of remorse was no surprise&period; &OpenCurlyDoubleQuote;That&&num;8217&semi;s how a majority of people around here feel coming up in this environment&comma;” he said&period;<br &sol;>&NewLine;Brown was a kindly&comma; and he was smiling about it&comma;” Smith-Brown said&period; &OpenCurlyDoubleQuote;I hope he gets what he deserves&period; I hope he rots in jail&period; They can&&num;8217&semi;t bring my grandfather back&period;”<br &sol;>&NewLine;Cops found nine &period;40-caliber shell casings at the scene but never found the gun that Cooper allegedly used&period;<br &sol;>&NewLine;By January&comma; Cops finally got a solid lead&period; An anonymous woman called the NYPD and gave them the address of an apartment in Fayetteville&comma; N&period;C&period; That night&comma; police went to the apartment and captured Cooper trying to flee out a rear window&period;<br &sol;>&NewLine;He was arrested by NYPD Detectives Kenneth Juart of the 88th Precinct and Thomas Handley of Brooklyn North Homicide&period; The Fayetteville Police were also involved&period;<br &sol;>&NewLine;Sgt&period; Richard Erickson&comma; commanding officer of the 88th Precinct Detective Squad&comma; said Cooper was the new dealer on the block and wanted Clinkscales and Simmons&comma; &OpenCurlyDoubleQuote;Two of the individuals were old school players down there&comma; Calvin Clinkscales and Lacount Simmons&period; Cooper was kind of new school&period; He was trying to make a move&period;”<br &sol;>&NewLine;Cooper was charged with three counts of murder and illegal weapons possession&period;<br &sol;>&NewLine;His long criminal record includes two stints in state prison for attempted assault and weapons possession&period; He also has prior arrests for rioting in a correctional facility&comma; attempted murder&comma; attempted assault&comma; robbery and gun possession&period;<br &sol;>&NewLine;&&num;8220&semi;He&&num;8217&semi;s a bad individual&comma;&&num;8221&semi; Erickson said&period; But since the killings&comma; there hasn’t been much drug activity in that part of the Ingersoll Houses&period;<br &sol;>&NewLine;&&num;8220&semi;It seems quiet&comma;” Erickson said&period;<br &sol;>&NewLine;The remnants of Cooper’s crew have stayed under the radar since the killings&comma;
