Bambaataa has been under fire for months following allegations that he molested boys as his music legend status grew in the 80s and 90s.
Bambaataa, 59, who founded the international hip hop awareness group Zulu Nation 40 years ago, has dismissed claims against him as a government conspiracy. But even the Zulu Nation has distanced itself from Bambaataa, announcing it would bring in fresh leaders and devote new focus to victims of abuse.

The accusations were first launched by former New York State Democratic Committee Member Ronald Savage, who told The Daily News he’d been sexually abused by Bambaataa as a teen.
Hassan Campbell told the News last month that Bambaataa was a “pervert” who sexually abused him numerous times. Other allegations followed, including some from the DJ’s entourage who admitted there were always young boys around.
“Many of the people never want to speak to my other members who were of that era. They just going along with he say, she say….what they call gossip,” Bambaataa said.

“I will always carry the banner and flag of the universal Zulu Nation.”
Bambaataa’s 1982 hit “Planet Rock” helped turn rap music into an international phenomenon.
The alleged victims have been trying to pressure state lawmakers to reform New York’s statute of limitations for sex abuse cases, which bars child victims from pursuing criminal charges or civil litigation after their 23rd birthday.
