<p>A 22-year-old North Carolina mom who smothered her newborn baby because he wouldn’t stop crying faces murder charges, police said.<br />
Deputies called Tuesday morning to the home of Aishia Pacheco around 6 a.m. found the 4-day-old infant unresponsive, according to Alexander County Sheriff Sheriff Chris Bowman. An emergency crew pronounced the baby dead at the house near Taylorsville.<br />
The boy’s mouth and nose were bruised, and Pacheco told investigators she had smothered him because he was crying, Bowman. Coroners will conduct an autopsy at a hospital in Winston-Salem, about 65 miles east of Taylorsville.<br />
“It&#8217;s tough… Tough on the first responders, tough on investigators,” Bowman said of the baby’s tragic death.<br />
Pacheco was convicted of misdemeanor breaking and entering in 2014 and 2012 and second-degree arson, a felony, in 2010, North Carolina Department of Public Safety records showed. She was released in January 2015 after serving 11 months of prison time.</p>

<p>Prosecutors charged Pacheco with second-degree murder, and a judge set her bond at $1 million, WJZY-TV reported. Her court appointed attorney, Joel Harbinson, told the Daily News on Thursday that he had yet to discuss the case with his client.<br />
“At this point, we anticipate a plea of not guilty,” Harbinson said. “You know as much as I know right now.”<br />
Pacheco’s apparent Facebook page showed a status update Monday night of “feeling blessed” and a profile picture of her in a hospital gown holding the baby.</p>

<p>“My little boy Tyler Isaiah and I finally got to come home today. He is doing great and I love him so much,” she wrote. “Im learning alot with him and im so proud to be his mom. Labor was tough and recovery is even tougher but im doing it for my son.”<br />
Users flooded the post with 112 comments, many of which referred to her as a “baby killer.” Other people responded to say that Pacheco suffered from mental illness.<br />
“Yes, she did commit a terrible terrible crime and for that she should be punished. But, I think maybe its not as much HER fault as it was her mental state that ultimately drove her to it,” one user wrote. “I hope she finds the help she needs and that the entire family can find some kind of peace with everything.”<br />
While the latest charges may be the most shocking of Pacheco&#8217;s crimes, she has had more than one run in with law enforcement.</p>

Pacheco was just released from custody on Jan. 25, 2015, according to information from the N.C. Department of Public Safety.</p>
