A woman accused of trying to kill her ex husband by pulling his intestines out after a machete attack has described the moment she stabbed him.
Dalya Saeed said she was acting in self-defence, stabbing Bilal Mohammed twice after he attacked her with a machete. Giving evidence at her trial, she told Birmingham Crown Court , UK that she had accidentally pulled out part of his intestines after he hit her over the head.
Bilal Mohammed, said Saeed had invited him to her home in Forest Road, Moseley on October 19 last year to talk about their daughter. The taxi driver said they had consensual sex but when he started to become intimate again she had suddenly produced a knife and stabbed him.
Saeed, 34, denies attempted murder. She admitted stabbing her former husband but claimed she had been defending herself after he had raped her and then attacked her with the machete. Saeed said she had just put on a bath robe after washing herself.
She said: “I turned round and saw something coming into my face. I was just looking at him and then I saw a machete in his hand.
“There was blood everywhere. He said ‘I will kill you’ and I pushed him away.
“I fully believed it was going to be my final night. I was just looking for anything to cut. I saw the knife and I stabbed him twice.
“When I stabbed him blood came out. My whole body was shaking.”
Saeed said she fled into a storage area pursued by Mohammed who then attacked her with a wooden stick .
“I put my hand up in order to stop him and I touched his body.
“The I saw this piece of intestine in my hand and I threw it on the floor. At that point I saw Bilal’s intestines fall out.
“I managed to grab the wooden stick and I hit Bilal.”
She said she had felt scared and had the pursued him outside to make sure he did not come back.
Saeed said she hit him once with a meat cleaver before returning to her flat.
The responding police officer, Gavin Simms told the court he had been called to the Moseley address at around 3am on October 20 last year and was first met by the blood-soaked defendant: “A female approached me who was just wearing a dressing gown. She appeared to be in distress. There was blood on her face, her dressing gown and her hair was literally covered in blood.
“She was mumbling something but I could not hear what she was saying. She had an injury to her left hand. It was deep. I could see it was gaping.”
Officer Gavin called for an ambulance and then followed the groaning and whimpering coming from nearby, while a colleague stayed with the defendant.
“There was a porch and I looked through the doors and I could see legs propped up against the wall,” Pc Simms said.
“I could see there was a male lying across the doors of the porch. His toes were covered in blood. His internal organs were protruding from his abdomen.
“He appeared to be bleeding heavily from several wounds, I could not make out from which specific wound.
“There was a meat cleaver near his hand, about 30 centimetres away. He was asking for help and saying to hurry.”
Officer described what he saw as so unnerving he didn’t know how to repond to the man’s request : “I was shocked to be honest. I had absolutely no idea how to administer first aid to the man.“I saw a knife in the road, a large kitchen knife with a black handle.”
However, he later accompanied Mr Mir to the hospital
Earlier a neighbor Heather Brookes said she was woken from her sleep by a man shouting for help.
“It sounded desperate so I thought the best thing to do was call the police,” she said.
“I looked out of the window and I realised this man was in his underwear. There was a woman with him. It looked like she was kind of slapping him.
“He was making a sort of wailing noise. I heard the woman say, ‘He tried to kill me’
The prosecutor, Paul Western, said Bilal Mir Mohammedwas later treated for a number of injuries and that the ones he suffered to his abdomen had been “life threatening.”
He added: “The violence used by Dalya Saeed was without justification.
“The clearest evidence of the defendant’s intention to kill Bilal Mohammed is that she ripped or possibly cut part of his intestines from his body, having cut open his abdomen. That alone could have killed him.
“Even when she must have known he was frightened for his life and was struggling to escape from her flat, Saeed persisted in her attack and inflicted even more serious injuries.”
The hearing continues.
