<article id="ra-body" class="ra-related">The sister of slain Sylville Smith believes her brother and the Milwaukee police officer who fired the fatal shots had crossed paths before — in high school. Smith, 23, likely knew his killer from their teenage days at Pulaski High School.<br />
“This boy knew my brother personally from high school,” Sherelle Smith told the Milwaukee television station. “They knew each other. You know exactly how my brother was and you shot and killed him.”</article>

<p>The unidentified cop shot and killed Smith when he allegedly brandished a stolen handgun and refused to drop the weapon during a foot chase Saturday. The officer opened fire and struck Smith twice in the arm and chest, police said.The shooting on the city’s North Side sparked three nights of civil unrest with dozens of arrests, brazen blazes and scattered gunfire that left an 18-year-old man wounded near Sherman Park late Sunday.<br />
The crowds shrank to only a few dozen lingering outside the park, which police barricaded with orange fencing before the 10 p.m. curfew for minors Monday night. Six protesters were cuffed during a faceoff with police earlier on Monday.</p>

<p>While hundreds of people flocked to the streets over the weekend to protest, social media users have been crowd-sourcing what they believe is the untold narrative and wild speculations regarding the identity of the police officer who shot Smith.<br />
Police Chief Edward Flynn said encouraging the “rumor mill” will only fuel protesters.</p>

<p>“There’s an awful lot of false narratives or inaccurate narratives or speculative narratives being pushed right now in an attempt I think to use them to mobilize people or motivate them to take to the streets again,” Flynn said at a press conference late Monday.<br />
Police officials have refused to identify the cop behind Smith’s death due to threats against him.<br />
Milwaukee officials have also refused to release body camera footage pending the state Department of Justice’s approval, but both Flynn and Mayor Tom Barrett contend the video will corroborate details of the shooting and show Smith holding a firearm.</p>

“If my brother did have his gun in his hand, why he didn’t shoot back? If he is going to out, why not go out with a fight? Why not go out with a big bang?” she said.</p>

<p>Sherelle Smith while demanding for answers calls out for peaceful resolution to the conflict: &#8220;If we don&#8217;t have answers, we&#8217;re gonna find them and we&#8217;re gonna find them our way. We&#8217;re not find them y&#8217;all way no more. We&#8217;re not gonna compromise no more, she said.<br />
&#8220;I invite any color, any gender, any race, any age to come have fun with us. Come to our parades or come support our barbecues or our rallies or our stop the violence things, you know. It seems like we&#8217;re so segregated. And it&#8217;s for nothing. It&#8217;s for nothing,&#8221; Smith said.</p>
