<p>Resiles — who is accused of stabbing a Florida woman to death in 2014 during a home invasion — said he felt compelled to run so he could gather evidence for his upcoming trial.“When I escaped, my whole reason was to gather enough info on my case to prove my innocence,” he wrote. “I felt I was at a dead end with nowhere to turn to. I tried to appeal to everyone to prove to them I was innocent but my voice went unheard.”<br />

<p>With advice from other inmates, Resiles figured out how to defeat his shackles inside the Broward County Courthouse on July 15 before bolting for the door.<br />
The murder suspect, was captured by police inside a West Palm Beach Days Inn around 11 p.m. after six days on the run, where he surrendered without incident. It’s unclear exactly what he did during his six days on the run, but Resiles called the escapade a success in his letter to the judge.<br />

Resiles’ audacious escape began inside a Broward County Courtroom Friday when the inmate — who awaits trial for the 2014 murder of Halliburton heir Jill Halliburton Su during an attempted robbery — jumped out of the jury box and bolted out of the courthouse, dodging a bailiff as he dashed to freedom. Surveillance footage captured the fugitive running out of an exit wearing a change of clothes.<br />
Investigators have arrested seven people connected to the inmates’ “carefully planned” escape, including fellow inmate Walter M. Hart III, awaiting trial for an unrelated 2014 murder. He was charged with helping Resiles “begin to defeat the shackling system used to secure inmates” prior to entering the courtroom, according to arrest reports.<br />
Police also arrested alleged accomplices Francine Mesadieu, 31, and 18-year-old Paige Jackson, who appears to have orchestrated the escape</p>

Resiles faces murder charges for the 2014 slaying of Jill Halliburton Su. Officials said the suspect broke into her Davie home, stabbed her to death and then robbed the house.<br />
