<article>Federal Marshals and cops nabbed a Connecticut man, Elmer Gomez Ruono, on the run since <a href="https://konniemoments.com/2016/11/15/manhunt-for-elmer-gomez-ruono-accused-of-abandoning-daughter-at-port-authority-bus-depot-the-5-year-old-led-police-to-slain-mom-who-is-estranged-from-ruono/?iframe=true&;theme_preview=true">abandoning his 6-year-old daughter </a>in the Port Authority Bus Terminal and suspected in the murder of his wife, Dionicia Bautista-Cano, police said.<br />
Agents and detectives with the U.S. Marshals N.Y./N.J. Regional Fugitive Task Force captured Ruano, 32, on Clay St. near Provost St. close to the Brooklyn Navy Yard around 1 p.m. Friday, officials said.<br />
“He&#8217;s in custody,” NYPD Chief of Detectives Robert Boyce said. “We’re not going to tell you how we got him, but we got him.”<br />
Ruono allegedly, had been laying low in a homeless shelter but got kicked out Thursday for fighting. He was nabbed while walking down the street near the site.</p>

<p>A crew of cops were waiting for him as he left the site on Friday, a witness said.<br />
According to witnesses, Ruano was calm and didn&#8217;t resist arrest.<br />
&#8220;He just stood there, and the cops questioned him for a couple minutes,&#8221; a witness said. &#8220;Then they put the cuffs on.&#8221;</p>

<p>Ruono had been a fugitive since Monday morning, when cops found his daughter wandering in the Midtown bus terminal. Her discovery led cops to her murdered mother in the family’s Stamford apartment , sparking a manhunt for her estranged husband, Ruono.<br />
Authorities previously said they wanted him for questioning.</p>

<p>“We’re certainly very pleased,” Stamford Police Capt. Richard Conklin said Friday. “A team of investigators are on their way to New York City as we speak.”<br />
The victim, Dionicia Bautista-Cano, moved from New Jersey to Stamford over the weekend to reunite with Ruano, after a period in which the couple was estranged.<br />
Neighbors and a cousin in Flemington, N.J., said Dionicia Bautista Cano, worked at a local pizzeria and devoted herself to caring for Daisy. The mom lived alone after a split from husband Elmer Gomez Ruono, 32, who is now held by marshals for questioning in her death.</p>

<article id="ra-body">The Connecticut state medical examiner ruled the death a homicide, but has not disclosed the cause of death. After she was found abandoned, Ruono and Bautista-Cano’s daughter was placed with child welfare officials in Connecticut. Cano&#8217;s family have expressed their desire to adopt little Daisy at the conclusion of the police case.<br />
Ruano was being held for interrogation at an NYPD precinct for Port Authority and Stamford police.<br />
It was not immediately clear whether he would be charged with both child abandonment and murder in New York City, or if he would get the child abandonment charge here and murder in Stamford.</article>
