<p>Mia Mascarinas-Green, who is married to Manilla based British marine biologist, Stuart Green was brutally murdered driving with their 10-year-old daughter Zoe on board as well as two year-old twins Eli and Zia, in broad day light.</p>

<p>Her husband Stuart Green, 45, has told how his daughters were lucky to escape their terrifying ordeal alive. Their couple&#8217;s eldest daughter Zoe, 10, explained the incident to her dad, as she witnessed it first with her two-year-old twin sisters Zia and Eli.<br />
Stuart said: “My wife picked up the three children and then was driving her usual way home.<br />
“Then a motorbike overtook the car and stopped in front of her to force her to stop.<br />
“The next thing there were two gentlemen left and right. They shot the engine and killed it so the car couldn’t move.</p>

<p>“They fired 28 bullets across the car. They were firing across the car basically at each other.<br />
“One of them then turned a gun on the kids, but thankfully it jammed.<br />
“Then two motorbikes came and the men got on and drove off.<br />
“It’s a miracle the children survived.<br />
“My wife was absolutely defenceless.”</p>

<p>Stuart is holding on to his belief that despite the tragedy, his wife was happy in her final moment because she looked at her daughters and saw they were alive: “Her final moments I believe were happy, because she turned around to see the children were okay.<br />
“She had a smile on her face when they found her and a big smile throughout the wake.”<br />
Stuart, from Hertfordshire, met Mia in the Philipines when his job as a marine biologist took him there 22 years ago and they married in 2004.</p>

<p>Stuart, Mia and their children had to cut short a visit with family in England over Christmas because Mia was working on the case before she was assassinated on February 15.<br />
Stuart believes the cold-blooded murder was linked to a high-profile environment case she was involved with.<br />
In 2016 she took on a client named Conrada Blomqvist who was arguing about the ownership of a beach resort with her son, Lloyd Gonzaga.</p>

<p>The 34-year-old Lloyd Lancer Gonzaga and another man named Romarico Benigan were later arrested in October when drugs and guns were found at the property in question.<br />
Following Mia’s murder both have been named as suspects and are on the run.<br />
The chief superintendent of the region has been described Gonzag as the “mastermind”.<br />
Stuart has now moved himself and his daughters back to Hertfordshire, UK for safety reasons The grieving widower said: “I had to move them back here for security, because my eldest daughter was one of the key witnesses.”</p>

<p>He plans to head back to the country to fight for justice against his wife’s killers, but is also worried about his own safety.<br />
He said: “My main concern is they’ve lost a mother, I don’t want them to lose a father as well.” He said: “We’ve seen the worst of a couple of individuals but the best in so many more.<br />
Stuart is also proud of his wife&#8217;s legacy: “She had a phenomenal life being able to touch so many in the time she had,” he said.</p>

<p>Stuart says he was particularly touched by a <a href="https://www.youcaring.com/zoeziaandelimascarinasgreen-766914" target="_blank">fundraising page</a> set up to support the daughters in future.<br />
He said: “Friends knew she was very strong on education and believed it really set people up for the future.”</p>
