<article id="ra-body">A Kuwaiti woman declined to help her maid clinging to life outside her seventh-floor window — and even recorded the horrifying moment when the domestic worker lost her grip.<br />
The maid, from Ethiopia, somehow survived the fall from the Kuwait building after hitting an awning as she plummeted, according to the Independent. She claimed it was not a suicide attempt.<br />
The maid can be seen hanging from the window in the short video, holding on with one hand. The woman who recorded the video just kept recording, and did not try to help. She later posted the video on social media, <a href="http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/middle-east/ethiopia-maid-fall-seventh-floor-video-kuwait-employer-kill-her-escape-a7666541.html" target="_blank">according to the Independent</a>.<br />
As the maid hangs on for her life, the woman yells at her, &#8220;come back you lunatic!&#8221; <a href="http://www.cnn.com/2017/04/02/middleeast/kuwait-ethiopian-window-fall-trnd/" target="_blank">according to CNN</a>.<br />
&#8220;Hold me! Hold me!&#8221; the maid replies, before falling.</p>

<p>Paramedics rescued the maid and rushed her to hospital where she was found to have suffered a broken arm and bleeding from her nose and ears, the newspaper sai<br />
&#8220;The lady put me in the bathroom and was about to kill me in the bathroom without anybody finding out, she would have thrown my body out like rubbish, so instead of staying there I went to save myself and then I fell,&#8221; she said on the video.<br />
&#8220;Alhamdulillah, I was protected. And so, what can be done?&#8221;<br />
Previously the incident had been described as an &#8220;apparent suicide attempt&#8221; though the woman now denies this.<br />
After filming as her maid landed on a metal awning and survived, the Kuwaiti woman then posted the incident on social media, She claimed she filmed the incident because she did not want to be accused of murder.<br />

<p>She has come in for criticism from the Kuwait Society for Human Rights who described her actions as &#8220;inhumane&#8221; and asked for an investigation. In a <a href="http://www.kuwaithr.org/activities/a/press-releases/item/731-23332.html" target="_blank">statement the human rights society </a>condemned the incident, saying there was &#8220;no care for her life,&#8221; and called for an official investigation.<br />
The employer was not spared on social media either, as people expressed shock, asking why the she just stood by and recorded it all, instead of trying to rescue the victim.<br />
The Kuwaiti criminal investigation police referred the maid&#8217;s employer to prosecutors. She was arrested for filming the incident without trying to rescue her employee and hit with multiple charges, including publishing a video of someone without their consent.<br />
Migrants make up many of the 600,000 domestic workers in the Middle Eastern country.</p>

<p>Earlier this year a couple were <a href="http://news.kuwaittimes.net/website/couple-arrested-torturing-maid/?utm_source=dlvr.it&;utm_medium=twitter" target="_blank">arrested </a>in Kuwait for torturing a maid until she was able to escape and find help.<br />
Hundreds of maids escape their employers every year over abuse, and the government has set up shelters for them. Some seek help from their embassies.</p>
