<div>The U.S. Navy is investigating a serving Navy SEAL for his less than savory part time job as an actor in the adult entertainment industry. Navy Chief Special Warfare Officer Joseph John Schmidt III, 42, has served in the military for 23 years. The highly decorated sailor was even the face of the SEAL program website.</div>

<p class="mol-para-with-font">But when he&#8217;s not training, fighting overseas or recruiting, Schmidt has been making porn films under the name &#8216;Jay Voom&#8217;, the <a class="" href="http://www.sandiegouniontribune.com/military/sd-me-seal-porn-20170414-story.html" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">San Diego Union-Tribune</a> reports.<br />
The paper reported that Schmidt has starred in 29 films, in the past seven years. Ironically most of the productions have co-starred his wife of 15 years and the mother of his kids, porn star Jewels Jade.</p>

<p class="mol-para-with-font">speaking about their predicament, the Navy man&#8217;s wife, porn star Jewels Jade explained that she first appeared in porn in 2001. She quit two years later to focus on being a wife and a mother.<br />
In 2005, the couple set up a real estate company in Virginia, where Schmidt was stationed at the time. Failure of their business ventures two years down the road, meant that Schmidt&#8217;s $60,000 a year salary couldn&#8217;t cover the shortfall and the family spiraled into debt and had to file for Chapter 7 bankruptcy.</p>

<p class="mol-para-with-font">It was during this time that Jade decided to start stripping to make money, spending long weeks in Las Vegas and sending the money home. Eventually, beaten down by their $1.8million in personal debt, Jade says she returned to porn.<br />
&#8216;It’s helped our family. It got us out of a lot of financial issues we were going through,&#8217; Jade told the <a class="" href="http://www.sandiegouniontribune.com/military/sd-me-seal-porn-20170414-story.html" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">Union-Tribune</a>: &#8220;I could take care of the child. I could try to get us out of financial debt.&#8221;<br />
Jade continued to star in porn when the family moved to Coronado, California in 2009, but said it wasn&#8217;t by choice. By now a recognized face in the porn industry, and getting other jobs became impossible due to her profile and reputation, Jade said.</p>

<p class="mol-para-with-font">According to Jade, fame didn&#8217;t translate to financial success though. The films she produced she says, rarely made money. Bringing in an extra hand from the family was a cost cutting measure. She essentially cast her husband as an actor to hold down production costs on her films<br />
Exigency solved, but for Schmidt today, the fact that he didn&#8217;t fill out mandatory paperwork seeking clearance from his chain of command to work as a porn actor, is an issue.<br />
Fast forward seven years, Schmidt has starred in 29 porn films, but his career porn actress wife believes it would be unfair for her husband to be punished since so many of his co-workers knew he was moonlighting in the skin trade for years.<br />
Records indicate, Navy officials say, that he did fill out paperwork to sell herbal supplements, only. Had he filed the requisite application, in all probability it would have been denied, given that servicemen are barred from work that risks &#8216;press or public relations coverage&#8217; or could &#8216;create an improper appearance.&#8217;</p>

<p class="mol-para-with-font">All things considered, a threat of demotion will have a serious impact on Schmidt, who is just eight months away from retirement. A demotion would impact how much he gets in his pension and post service benefits.<br />
Jade strongly disagrees with this likely outcome. It is her opinion that it would be unfair to punish her husband now, when so many of his co-workers have known about his work and said nothing.<br />
&#8216;They knew about it at work,&#8217; Jade said. &#8216;He got called in and they said, &#8220;Look, keep it on the low, don’t mention the SEAL name and blah, blah, blah.&#8221;<br />
&#8216;He was always pretty open about it with the command. I mean, honestly, all of his buddies knew about it. Everybody knew about it,&#8217; she said.<br />
Commenting further on the ostrich posture of brass she recounts past exposures such as when the SEALs invited her to the commandos’ Coronado campus to sign autographs for troops after she was named a 2011 Penthouse Pet of the Month.<br />
It is pertinent to note that the armed forces’ rules for secondary employment have the force of a “punitive instruction,” which means violators can be tried under the Uniform Code of Military Justice for lack of compliance.</p>
