Army veteran John Robert Neumann Jr., 45, entered a rear door of the Fiamma Inc. RV awning company armed with a semiautomatic pistol, a large hunting knife and possibly other smaller knives before he ultimately shot himself, Orange County Sheriff Jerry Demings said.
The shooting happened in multiple locations at the business, Demings said. There were about 12 employees inside the building at the time of the shooting. Eight witnesses survived, including one person who may not have been an employee.
There was no indication Neumann who was honorably discharged from the Army in 1999 had used the knife to attack any of his victims, Demings said.

Neumann who had been fired in April from his job at a Florida company opened fire June 5, 2017 at the Orlando-area business, killing five people before taking his own life, authorities said.
Four people were killed at the scene, while a fifth died at the hospital, Orange County Sheriff Jerry Demings told reporters. Demings said the incident was being treated as a “workplace violence incident” and did not appear to have any links to terror.
Police identified victims of the killing spree as Brenda Montanez-Crespo, 44, Kevin Lawson, 46, Kevin Clark, 53, Jeffrey Roberts, 57 and Robert Snyder, 69. Most of them were shot in the head, Demings said, with some shot multiple times.
The suspect was previously the subject of a case of workplace violence at Fiamma three years ago. In June 2014, the shooter “allegedly battered another employee,” Demings said. However, no charges were filed at the time.
Sheriff Demings also said there was nothing to indicate that the shooting was related to terrorism, and that it’s likely a ‘workplace violence incident’.
