<article id="ra-body">The 30-year-old Jackson also suffered from a non-fatal gunshot wound to the leg. His body was found less than a mile away from his head, deposited on the porch of a Jackson home. State authorities who question the violent nature of the murder, have called in the feds. the <a href="http://www.clarionledger.com/story/news/local/2017/06/12/jpd-brings-federal-partners-decapitation-barber-shop-cases/389266001/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Clarion-Ledger</a> reported.<br />
The headless human body was found on Green Avenue shortly after the discovery of a severed head on Deer Park Street early Saturday morning.<br />
The burned body was found just after 4 p.m. Saturday, less than a mile away from where the severed head was found on a resident&#8217;s front porch.<br />
Authorities said the head was severed from the body, at the neck. Because of the brutality of the crime, officers in Jackson have enlisted the assistance of the FBI. Members of the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco Firearms and Explosives and the U.S. Attorney’s office joined Police Chief Lee Vance to discuss both Jackson’s case as well as the “assassination” of barbershop owner Johnny Brown, which occurred just ahead of the discovery of Jackson’s body.<br />
“Obviously the manner in which these two incidents have occurred, personally I found to be shocking, bizarre, brutal and unacceptable to the city of Jackson and its citizens,” Vance said during a press conference.</p>

<p>He said Jackson’s murder was “truly unique,” adding the department had not once worked a decapitation case. FBI Special Agent in Charge Christopher Freeze similarly noted he’d yet to work a case like this during his time in law enforcement.<br />
“I have not seen this in my career, certainly not here in the United states,” he said.<br />
Gang experts this week have confirmed the presence of MS-13 in Mississippi — a group whose violent deeds often involve decapitation and burning of bodies, according to the Ledger.<br />
Johnny Jackson tearfully recalled seeing his younger brother for the last time Friday. He said he believed Jeremy was targeted for a reason.</p>

<p>“From my speculation it was a message sent from somebody or to the city because you just don’t kill somebody in the bushes then take their head and put in on display,” he told <a href="http://www.wlox.com/story/35656615/family-of-severed-head-victim-speak-out?clienttype=generic&;utm_content=buffer1e4fe&;utm_medium=social&;utm_source=facebook.com&;utm_campaign=buffer" target="_blank" rel="noopener">WLOX</a>. “They displayed him and you could ride down the street and see it on the step. To me, it was a message to somebody.”<br />
Johnny told the news station his brother had been living with him while he worked toward his degree and cared for his three children. When he wasn&#8217;t home taking care of his three children, he was studying, to better his life: &#8220;He don&#8217;t bother anyone he&#8217;s a JSU student, he just got out of school,&#8221; added Jackson. &#8220;He got a 3.0 GPA. He got an associates degree. He&#8217;s working on his masters,&#8221; Johnny Jackson said.<br />
Jerome Jackson is one of 9 siblings, who are now heartbroken, praying his murder is solved quickly.<br />
“They might do it to someone else, we need to stop this, we need to stop the violence, all this unnecessary kind of stuff really needs to be solved cause they might do it again,” he said.<br />
Police on Tuesday offered a $20,000 reward for information leading to an arrest or conviction in the case.</p>
