<p class="mol-para-with-font">A former girls&#8217; track coach who admitted to having sex three times with a 17-year-old student in a park was found dead in an apparent suicide.<br />
Timothy Even is believed to have died of carbon monoxide poisoning when he was found unresponsive in his car at a log landing site near Stoneham, Maine, on Friday.<br />
The 28-year-old was a girls&#8217; track coach at Westbrook High School until he was arrested last September for having an inappropriate relationship with a student.<br />
Even admitted to having sex with a 17-year-old, saying he couldn&#8217;t control his feelings and was convicted of unlawful sexual contact and assault in December.<br />
Even&#8217;s car was found backed into a log landing in Lovell, Maine, near his hometown&#8217;s border line, reported the <a class="" href="http://www.pressherald.com/2017/08/19/ex-westbrook-high-track-coach-who-admitted-having-sex-with-student-found-dead/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Press Herald</a>.<br />
State Police Lt. Walter Grzyb said in a statement: &#8216;His death is not suspicious and is believed to be a suicide by carbon monoxide poisoning.<br />
&#8216;The medical examiner’s office will make the final determination. An autopsy is not expected but further testing will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death.&#8217;</p>

<p class="mol-para-with-font">Even was arrested in September when another student went to police after finding explicit text messages between the 17-year-old and Even.<br />
The relationship had been going on since April 2016, only ending when Even was arrested.<br />
Even initially denied the allegations but later confessed to having sex with the student when he was confronted with the evidence.<br />
He wrote in an affidavit that was released in September: &#8216;This is a situation that started with the best of intentions.<br />
&#8216;Unfortunately, my lack of professionalism and self-control created a situation that got out of hand.&#8217;</p>

<p class="mol-para-with-font">Even also told police that he had sexual relations with the student three separate times outside at a park, according <a class="" href="http://www.wcsh6.com/news/local/community-remembers-convicted-former-westbrook-track-coach-after-suicide/465588045" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">WCSH6</a>.<br />
Even was convicted of the misdemeanor charges in December.<br />
In Maine, the age of consent is 16 years old but sexual relations with students are prohibited by law if a school employee has authority over that student.<br />
Despite the conviction, former students of Even paid tribute to him on social media.</p>
