A former girls’ track coach who admitted to having sex three times with a 17-year-old student in a park was found dead in an apparent suicide.
Timothy Even is believed to have died of carbon monoxide poisoning when he was found unresponsive in his car at a log landing site near Stoneham, Maine, on Friday.
The 28-year-old was a girls’ track coach at Westbrook High School until he was arrested last September for having an inappropriate relationship with a student.
Even admitted to having sex with a 17-year-old, saying he couldn’t control his feelings and was convicted of unlawful sexual contact and assault in December.
Even’s car was found backed into a log landing in Lovell, Maine, near his hometown’s border line, reported the Press Herald.
State Police Lt. Walter Grzyb said in a statement: ‘His death is not suspicious and is believed to be a suicide by carbon monoxide poisoning.
‘The medical examiner’s office will make the final determination. An autopsy is not expected but further testing will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death.’

Even was arrested in September when another student went to police after finding explicit text messages between the 17-year-old and Even.
The relationship had been going on since April 2016, only ending when Even was arrested.
Even initially denied the allegations but later confessed to having sex with the student when he was confronted with the evidence.
He wrote in an affidavit that was released in September: ‘This is a situation that started with the best of intentions.
‘Unfortunately, my lack of professionalism and self-control created a situation that got out of hand.’

Even also told police that he had sexual relations with the student three separate times outside at a park, according WCSH6.
Even was convicted of the misdemeanor charges in December.
In Maine, the age of consent is 16 years old but sexual relations with students are prohibited by law if a school employee has authority over that student.
Despite the conviction, former students of Even paid tribute to him on social media.
