Piana&#8217;s estranged wife Sara Piana first announced his passing in a Facebook post on Friday morning, after a week of conflicting rumors about his health status.<br />
The District Six Medical Examiner in Florida confirmed that Piana passed away early Friday morning at the hospital, <a class="" href="http://www.tmz.com/2017/08/25/rich-piana-dead-at-46/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">TMZ</a> reported.<br />
&#8216;You truly touched many people&#8217;s heart and helped so many!!! It inspired me in many ways to see the huge impact you had on people all over the world,&#8217; Sara Piana wrote in a Facebook post announcing her estranged husband&#8217;s death.<br />
Australian bodybuilder Calum Von Moger also paid tribute to Rich Piana on Instagram: &#8216;This has been a sad week for the fitness world. Reminds us life is short. Life is precious.&#8217;<br />
Piana, who has admitted using steroids in the past, collapsed in his home on August 10 and was placed in a coma.</div>

<p>Piana previously came forward to the public admitting he had been spending thousands of dollars a month on anabolic steroids, which assisted him in enhancing his ardent bodybuilding career and lifestyle.</p>

<p class="mol-para-with-font">In a YouTube video he posted last year, Piana said he took the drugs on-and-off over the course of 27 years, and advised his followers against the same unhealthy routine, while ultimately backing up his decision.&#8217;If you have the choice to do steroids or stay natural, stay natural. There&#8217;s no reason to do steroids, you&#8217;re only hurting your body and hurting yourself,&#8217; Piana said.<br />
&#8216;But if you want to become a professional bodybuilder, guess what? You&#8217;re probably going to have to f***ing do them, you&#8217;re not going to have a choice. That&#8217;s the boat I was in.&#8217;</p>

Last week, Jansen took to social media to shoot down rumors that Piana had died on August 14.<br />

Jansen remained silent on her Instagram account within several hours of the news of his death emerging on August 25.</div>

He has repeatedly referred to his slogan of &#8216;Whatever It Takes,&#8217; when discussing the risky lengths he would go to succeed in the muscle-building business.<br />
Also last year, Piana and his wife, Sara Heimis, announced their decision to separate after nearly one year of marriage.<br />
Piana released a video accusing Heimis of marrying him so she may obtain a Green Card. In the video, he also alleges she stole money from him.</p>
