<p>The neighbor of a pregnant woman found dead confessed to taking advantage of her to get the baby after initially claiming she was given her newborn.<br />
Brooke Crews, 38, and boyfriend William Hoehn, 32, were charged Monday with conspiracy to commit murder in the death of Savanna Greywind, who was eight months pregnant, <a href="http://www.wday.com/news/4318607-our-baby-couple-told-police-conflicting-stories-how-they-ended-missing-womans-newborn">according to news station WDAY</a>.<br />
Greywind, 22, was reported missing Aug. 19 after<a href="http://konniemoments.com/2017/08/24/two-day-old-baby-found-in-north-dakota-apt-building-where-pregnant-woman-vanished-savanna-lafontaine-greywind-is-8-months-pregnant-family-believe-somethings-wrong/"> she didn’t return from Crews’ apartment</a> in North Fargo, North Dakota. Her parents have said that she visited the neighbor for a dress fitting and stopped answering her phone.<br />
Eight days after she went missing, her body was found in the Red River.<br />
The body of the missing pregnant woman was found wrapped in plastic in a North Dakota river, ending an eight-day search and raising the macabre possibility that “womb raiders” forcibly removed her baby before she was killed, authorities and reports say.<br />
Fargo Police Chief David Todd told reporters late Sunday that kayakers found the body of Savanna Greywind hanging from a log in the Red River. Todd, who spoke to the media from the Minnesota side of the river about six miles north of Moorhead, said investigators found suspicious material at a nearby farmstead that may be a crime scene, <a href="http://www.startribune.com/grim-prospect-of-womb-raiders-raised-in-case-of-missing-fargo-woman/441918773/#1" target="_blank" rel="noopener">the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports</a>.<br />
Residents in the small town have accused the couple of being “womb raiders” who forcibly took her baby.<br />
“Savanna was a victim of a cruel and vicious act of depravity,” Fargo police Chief David Todd said.</p>

<p>Crews told police that she invited over Greywind, who lived downstairs from her, on Aug. 19 and taught her how to self-induce birth by breaking her water.<br />
She claimed Greywind came back two days later at 3:30 a.m. and gave her the baby girl.<br />
But Hoehn told authorities that he returned home Aug. 19 to find Crews cleaning up blood in the bathroom. Hoehn claimed Crews showed him the newborn and said, “This is our baby. This is our family.”<br />
Crews eventually confessed to police to trying to get the newborn from Greywind.<br />
“Crews admitted she had taken advantage of Savanna Greywind in an attempt to obtain her child and possibly keep the child as her own,” court documents said.<br />
On Thursday, authorities <a href="http://konniemoments.com/2017/08/24/two-day-old-baby-found-in-north-dakota-apt-building-where-pregnant-woman-vanished-savanna-lafontaine-greywind-is-8-months-pregnant-family-believe-somethings-wrong/">discovered the newborn girl,</a> who was in good health, with Crews while executing a search warrant at the North Fargo apartment.<br />
Crews and Hoehn were taken into custody and charged with conspiracy to commit murder, kidnapping and giving false information to police. They are each being held on $2 million bond.</p>

<p class="">Crews, 38, and Hoehn, 32, both attending their arraignment by satellite linking have each been charged with conspiring to murder LaFontaine-Greywind, lying to police about her disappearance, and conspiring to kidnap her unborn child.<br />
Prosecutors said the suspects planned to murder LaFontaine-Greywind to steal her fetus and raise the baby as their own biological child. Court records in North Dakota, Minnesota and other states show Crews and Hoehn have at least nine children between them.<br />
If convicted, they would face a maximum sentence of life in prison without parole for the charge of conspiring to commit murder, according to Cass County State’s Attorney Birch Burdick. Conspiring to commit kidnapping is a felony with a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison. Providing false information to law enforcement is a misdemeanor with a maximum sentence of a year in prison.</p>
