<article id="ra-body">A mother was murdered while house-sitting for someone in southern New Jersey, police said. The body of Shawneeq M. Carter was found at a home on Hopkins Street in Woodbury, New Jersey around 7:30 p.m. Saturday, police said.<br />
Carter, 26, was found dead inside a Woodbury home Saturday evening and the Gloucester County Medical Examiner&#8217;s Office determined that the mother-of-one died of blunt force trauma, <a href="http://philadelphia.cbslocal.com/2017/09/26/shawneeq-m-carter-murder-case/">CBS Philly reports</a>.<br />
Police have ruled the death a homicide.</p>

<p>Shawneeq Carter father, Sean Carter, <a href="http://6abc.com/prosecutor-house-sitter-murdered-in-woodbury-nj/2456719/">told ABC 6</a> t hat it was his daughter&#8217;s 5-year-old son and another little boy in the home who made the gruesome discovery Friday night.<br />
&#8220;They saw her on the ground and &#8230; didn&#8217;t know what to do,&#8221; he said.<br />
The father said the boys were scared to leave Carter alone but left the home the following day, on Saturday, to get help.<br />
They told authorities they were sleeping and didn&#8217;t know what happened.<br />
Investigators said the resident for whom Carter was house-sitting for was out of town when the body was discovered. It&#8217;s not clear how the resident knew Carter.<br />
Police have not said whether there were signs of forced entry or if it appeared Carter knew whoever attacked her.<br />
Sean Carter told the outlet he has no idea why his daughter was house-sitting.<br />
So far, no arrests have been made.Police are asking anyone with information to contact the Gloucester County Prosecutor&#8217;s Office or the Woodbury Police Department.</p>
