Current rap sensation Cardi B just backhanded fellow female rapper Azealia Banks who was criticizing her chart topping hit ‘Yellow Bodak’.
Social media gadfly Banks questioned Cardi B’s rights to be ‘ Blackness’ and the unthinkable crime of hitting No. 1 on the charts, before the incomparable Azealia. Cardi’s response was swift, brutal and epic.

Banks had been quick to slam the Bronx-bred rapper after her hit “Bodak Yellow” topped the Billboard charts, but Cardi hit right back with a video proving Banks loves the song just as much as the rest of the world.
Cardi, 24, made history earlier this week, as only the second lone female rappers to hit No. 1 with no featured artists . First was Lauryn Hill nearly 20 years ago.
While much of the music industry heaped praise on Cardi for accomplishing the feat, controversial singer Azealia Banks took to Twitter to pen a scathing attack on the Cardi, calling her a “poor man’s” Nicki Minaj and criticizing the music industry for turning their backs on black women.

The Cardi B is just the second female rapper in history to have a No. 1 song without any other artists featured on the track

Cardi B first female rapper to have solo No. 1 song since 1998 with ‘Yellow Bodak’

“I’m sorry. Black industry men are too hype for this Latina girl I’ve never seen them jump like this for Remy (Ma) or Nicki (Minaj),” Banks wrote. “Spinning this ‘for the culture’ story when they are simply letting white men at Atlantic buy them into hating their own women… I wanted spicy Latina and she gave me poor mans Nicki.”
Belcalis Almanzar, aka Cardi B’, is a native New Yorker of Trinidadian and Dominican descent.

Unchained, Banks didn’t spare Charlamagne Tha God, the host of a popular morning radio show on the hip hop station Power 105.1, for not campaigning heavily enough for her own music.
“Charlemagne and black men in hip hop should have gotten me, remy AND nicki a number one before they gave Cardi or Iggy (Azalea) one,” she wrote. “But literally white guys buy black men away from black women and it’s soo cringe.”

“One of the reasons Bodak Yellow went #1! Cuz even the HATERS love it!” she wrote.
It would seem non-haters love it, too.
Taylor Swift — whom Cardi dethroned to hit No. 1 — sent the rapper a bouquet of flowers as congratulations.

And for what it’s worth, Nicki Minaj herself also offered up a celebratory message to Cardi.
“Congratulations to a fellow NEW YAWKA on a RECORD BREAKING achievement,” she wrote on Twitter. “Bardi, this is the only thing that matters!!! Enjoy it.”
