<p>The executive head of New York base ethics reform organization Citizens Union Dick Dadey was arrested early Tuesday on drug possession charges.<br />
Dadey, 59, turned himself in about 8:30 a.m. at the 84th Precinct in Brooklyn Heights, New York police said.<br />
Rumors of Dadey’s impending arrest went virile on Oct. 11, but his representatives denied the report at the time.<br />
Dadey had taken a leave of absence on September 20, from the good government group for unspecified reasons when the organization announced through spokesman Randy Mastro: &#8220;Our longtime executive director, Dick Dadey, has gone on a leave of absence for personal reasons.”<br />
The nonpartisan group, which lobbies for election and ethics reforms, will be led “in the interim” by board members Rick Schaffer and Alan Rothstein, Mastro said. Schaffer will be interim executive director of the Citizens Union Foundation, while Rothstein will lead Citizens Union. The pair will “oversee day-to-day operations,” Mastro said in a statement.<br />
Investigators reportedly found the unspecified drugs in Dadey&#8217;s Remsen St. home, police said.<br />
Dadey last tweeted on Aug. 16, noting that the Citizens Union criticism of President Trump’s handling of the Charlottesville violence was a first for the group.<br />
The charges arise from a search warrant executed by police in mid-September which turned up crystal meth and ecstasy at Dadey’s Brooklyn Heights home, sources said.<br />
His defense have downplayed the incident, saying the amount seized in the raid was for personal use – and not a “tremendous amount.”<br />
Dadey was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance. His next court appearance is scheduled for December 4, 2017.</p>
