<p>Gas station surveillance video shows the California man officers suspect killed two and injured three in a shooting rampage nearly drive into a convenience store and then walk inside, rifle in hand.<br />
Authorities arrested 61-year-old Alan Ashmore in the attack and are still working to uncover his motive. Detectives told <a href="http://sacramento.cbslocal.com/2017/10/23/lake-county-shooting-surveillance-video/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">CBS 13</a> it appeared the suspect was taking aim at anyone he came in contact with, all the while leading police on a chase.<br />
The gunman unleashed a barrage of gunfire into a home in Anchor Village just before 11:30 a.m. Monday, killing a man inside the residence. The suspect continued on to shoot into a couple of cars, killing another man down the street,. He then wounded a woman in the foot before he got into a confrontation with an arriving California Highway Patrol Officer. The officer, who was wearing body armor, was not seriously injured.<br />
Ashmore then fled to a gas station in Chevron, where surveillance footage captured his SUV nearly drive through a convenience store. He got out of his car, gun in hand and walked into the shop, where he stole a soda, <a href="https://www.cbsnews.com/news/surveillance-video-shows-man-during-deadly-shooting-rampage/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">CBS</a> reported.</p>

<article id="ra-body">Ashmore then fled to a gas station in Chevron, where surveillance footage captured his car nearly plow through a convenience store. He got out of his car — gun in hand — and walked into the shop, where he stole a soda, <a href="https://www.cbsnews.com/news/surveillance-video-shows-man-during-deadly-shooting-rampage/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">CBS</a> reported.<br />
It’s there he fired at a vendor, who had a license to carry a concealed weapon. The vendor grabbed a gun from his own truck and struck Ashmore’s sport utility vehicle, officers told the news station.<br />
“I think he was targeting almost everybody,” Lake County District Attorney Don Anderson told CBS 13. “Everyone he had a grudge with, and even random citizens.”<br />
Pat Kelly, 52, told the <a href="http://www.sfchronicle.com/crime/article/Report-of-active-shooter-in-Lake-County-prompts-12299696.php" target="_blank" rel="noopener">San Francisco Chronicle</a> he was at the gas station when the SUV tore through the parking lot.<br />
“Oh there were eight to 10 or a dozen gunshots in rapid succession,” Kelly told the newspaper. “There was another guy parked behind me. He was hiding behind his gas pump, and I was hiding behind my gas pump.”<br />
He said he got back into his car and raced to another gas station, only to again spot the SUV.</p>

<p>Ashmore reportedly stole cigarettes and a lighter from the store at gunpoint before driving away. Officers said the suspect also shot at workers at a winery and then led deputies on a chase before finally surrendering.<br />
“There are a total of seven different crime scenes,” Lake County Sheriff Brian Martin said.<br />
Several firearms were found inside his vehicle, at the time of his arrest. According to the sheriff’s office, Ashmore has been arrested several times locally and has spent time in prison.<br />
The names of those killed in the shooting spree have not yet been released.</p>
