Rhonda Shoffner was jailed for beating, strangling and biting her daughter over incorrect Bible verses</h6>
<p>A Pennsylvania mother, Rhonda Shoffner was accused of beating and strangling her daughter over incorrect Bible verses, she then kicked the girl out of the house for incorrectly reciting Bible verses.<br />
Shoffner, 41, was convicted after pleading guilty to aggravated assault, strangulation, endangering the welfare of a child and making terrorist threats. The judge sentenced her to serve two and a half to five years in state prison.<br />
The Middletown resident was arrested in March after her 13-year-old daughter told police her mom attacked her and then threatened to kill her, <a href="http://www.pennlive.com/news/2017/10/mom_who_beat_daughter_for_not.html">pennlive</a> reports.<br />
An intoxicated Shoffner bit the girl and slammed the teen&#8217;s head into a bathroom wall, The inebriated mother told the victim, &#8220;I&#8217;m going to [expletive] kill you,&#8221; police said.<br />
Police said Shoffner was drunk when she told her daughter to get on her knees in the bathroom because the girl couldn&#8217;t reach family members on the phone.<br />
The girl told officers that she knew she was going to get beaten and begged her mom to stop.<br />
Shoffner made the child get on her knees anyway and then recited Bible verses, telling her daughter to repeat them word for word.<br />
Whenever the girl missed a line, Shoffner would slam the child&#8217;s head against the wall.<br />
Police said that happened about five times. She then demanded the girl lay on her back and proceeded to choke and bite her daughter while threatening to kill her.<br />
According to KFOR, Shoffner told her daughter &#8220;leave and don&#8217;t ever come back.&#8221;<br />
The girl grabbed a phone, a coat, sneakers and fled down the street. She called her father, who took her to the police station.<br />
In addition to the jail time, Dauphin County Judge John F. Cherry ordered Shoffner to undergo substance abuse counseling and required her to serve 5 years on probation once she completes her sentence.<br />
The defendant had another case for assault. According to Chief Deputy District Attorney Sean McCormack, Shoffner&#8217;s guilty pleas also encompassed a January incident where she hit and bit a woman during an argument in a car.<br />
&#8220;This was an extremely scary situation for this young victim to have to endure. Fortunately, she is doing well now and is in a safe place,&#8221; McCormack said Thursday.<br />
That was not Shoffner&#8217;s first brush with the law this year. On Feb. 10, officers responding to an active domestic dispute at Shoffner&#8217;s home after neighbors reported hearing commotion, heard a second-floor window open above just as they began pounding on the door, announcing their presence. No one came to the door, but a half-naked Shoffner leaned out the window and screamed obscenities at the responding officers as she told them to get off of her property, police said.<br />
She then gave the officers the middle finger and told them that if they came through her front door, she &#8220;got something for [them],&#8221; police said. She allegedly told officers Police said she responded with another middle finger and said, &#8220;[expletive] you.&#8221; when they told her charges would be filed against her</p>
