<p>One of the men charged with slaying a family of four in Upstate New York had recently been booted from a homeless shelter for fighting, according to a report.<br />
James White was told several months ago not to visit Schenectady City Mission after repeatedly fighting at the facility.<br />
“He was very troubled,” Michael Saccocio, executive director of the shelter told the <a href="http://www.timesunion.com/news/article/Shelter-banned-quadruple-murder-suspect-12465957.php" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Albany Times Union</a>.<br />
“He was aggressive, always getting into fights. We had to prohibit him from the campus.”<br />
Justin Mann and James White both of Schenectady, were arrested 16 miles away in their hometown late Friday for the quadruple homicide in nearby Troy.<br />
White, 38, and 24-year-old Justin Mann were charged with murder in connection with a brutal slaying of two women and two children, just before Christmas 2017.<br />
The two suspects pleaded not guilty Saturday in the brutal executions of two women and two children inside an upstate basement apartment just four days before Christmas.<br />
Mann, who is free on parole, appeared to break down after a court appearance where both men were arraigned on one count of first-degree murder and four counts of second-degree murder.<br />

<p>They’re accused of killing Shanta Myers, her girlfriend, Brandi Mells, and Myers’ two children, Jeremiah, 11, and Shanise, 5, on Dec. 21 in their basement apartment.<br />
The four victims were discovered on Dec. 26 with their hands and feet bound and their throats slashed. Investigators haven’t announced a possible motive for the grisly slaying.</p>

<p>All four victims were found with their hands and ankles bound and their throats cut.</p>

<p>The Albany Times-Union reported that two knives were reportedly discovered in the apartment,<br />
The killings occurred around 9 p.m. on Dec. 21, and the victims who were discovered by the property manager were all lying close to one another.<br />
White and Mann both pled not guilty when they appeared before a judge Saturday.<br />
James White started frequenting the Schenectady homeless shelter roughly a year ago, Saccocio told the Times Union.<br />
He described White as “troubled” and “certainly extreme.”<br />
White was initially banned from staying at City Mission overnight after breaking the facility’s policies.<br />
He was allowed to return for food, Saccocio added, but that also had to end last year.</p>

<p>“Everyone in the shelter has needs,” he said.<br />
“But they all get what the rules are and follow them. He wouldn’t follow the rule.”<br />
Saccocio said he was shocked by the killings in Troy.<br />
“It&#8217;s just devastating, I couldn&#8217;t imagine a person being capable of doing something like this.” Saccocio said.<br />
Investigators previously indicated one of the suspects was familiar with a victim, but didn’t specify those potential ties.<br />
A review of footage from security cameras in Troy, helped investigators narrow the list of suspects down to White and Mann, sources said<br />
If convicted of first-degree murder, both suspects face potential sentences of life without parole. Both men who are being held without bail at the Rensselaer County Jail are due back in Troy City Court on Thursday.</p>
