The victims of a quadruple homicide in upstate New York on Tuesday have been described as a mother, her two children and her partner, according to police, Shanta Myers, 36, and her 22-year-old girlfriend Brandi Mells were found dead inside an apartment in Troy in upstate New York on Tuesday. The bodies of Myers’ two children – five-year-old Shanise Myers and 11-year-old Jeremiah Myers were also discovered inside the home.
The Meyers and Mills along with the two children were found dead in a Troy apartment on Tuesday were targeted by their killer, Troy Police Chief James Tedesco said. The killer remained at large, but “This is not a random act,”Tedesco said.
The victims were identified by the Troy Police Department on Thursday. The deaths are being investigated as homicides.
Officials say a property manager discovered the bodies early Tuesday afternoon in the city’s Lansingburgh section. The victims had been found bound and with their throats slashed.

The chief said two women, ages 36 and 22, were killed as were two children, ages 11 and 5. He did not release their names. The women were in a relationship and one was the mother of the 11-year-old boy and 5-year-old girl, he said.
Investigators have not released the victims’ identifies or say how they were killed, but the Albany Times Union quoted neighbors as saying that one of the victims lived in the basement apartment with her children, ages 5 and 11, and her partner.
The nature and viciousness of the killing shocked police. The chief called the crime “the worst we’ve experienced.”
“Only a person of savagery would do something like this,” Tedesco said.
Autopsies were being done Wednesday afternoon.
Troy police investigate multiple deaths at 158 Second Avenue on Tuesday. Police Capt. Daniel DeWolf described the deaths are ‘certainly suspicious.’
The unit where the bodies were found is one of five in a home located in a residential neighborhood along the Hudson River’s east bank, just north of Albany.
While police have been tight-lipped about the victims, several Facebook users identifying themselves as relatives of the deceased have been posting messages and photos, and sharing links to news articles about the killings in Troy.
Based on that information, it is suspected that among the slain were a mother, her son and daughter.
Police Capt DeWolf on Tuesday called the deaths ‘horrible, terrible’ and sad. The incident is being investigated as a quadruple homicide.
All of the deceased were reportedly found in the basement of the 5,852-square-foot residence. The 911 Dispatcher reported that : “Our caller reports three people with their hands behind their backs not breathing.”

Troy police say the deaths are being treated as suspicious and the incident is classified as a quadruple homicide.
They haven’t released the victims’ identifies or said how they were killed.
No arrests have been made in the case.
