Wall is among around 10 Republicans vying to replace retiring Congressman Ted Poe, who represents Texas’ 2nd Congressional District, which encompasses much of northern and western Houston.

Catching flack: Congressional candidate Kathaleen Wall is facing backlash for releasing this new pro-Second Amendment ad showing her firing a gun – just one day after the latest school shooting in Florida.
In the ad, a narrator says Wall’s father taught her how to shoot a gun in her youth. The 30-second ad, which was first reported on by KPRC, begins with Wall holding a rifle in her well-manicured hands, with a male narrator going through the steps of firing a gun: ‘ready, aim, breath in, breath out, gently squeeze trigger and fire.’
The GOP candidate takes a shot and flinches from the recoil in slow motion, after which the narrator chimes in again, accompanied by a strumming guitar: ‘that is how Kathaleen Wall’s daddy taught her to shoot growing up on her Texas farm. It’s a part of Kathaleen’s life.’

The video then shows Wall strolling through the woods, going for a drive with her dog and riding on the back of a white horse.

The ad culminates with Wall carrying the rifle on her shoulder and then firing the weapon again, as the male narrator says off-screen: ‘if anyone thinks a nice lady with a soft voice might naturally be soft on Second Amendment, then they are making a big, big mistake.’

One Twitter user asked: ‘You ran TV ads shooting a gun the day after 17 children got murdered by a guy with a gun. Beyond poor taste. Simply reprehensible to say the least. I grew up in Houston and I can assure you’ll I’ll do everything possible to make sure you don’t get a seat.’

A third person criticized the ad as ‘insensitive’ and wondered, ‘What was she thinking?’
