<p class="mol-para-with-font">Gunshots fired in a hall of residence at Central Michigan University on friday morning has forced the school to go on lockdown is on lockdown. Two people were shot dead in a dorm by a man who remains at large. Sources say the victims were the shooter&#8217;s parents.<br />
The victims were shot on the fourth floor of Campbell Hall, a co-ed residence hall, around 8:30am. A school spokesman said the two victims were not students and that no other people were injured.</p>

<p class="mol-para-with-font">The shooting is being described as a &#8216;family-type domestic&#8217; incident, campus police said at an afternoon press conference. Police couldn&#8217;t give any more information on the victims, but the <a class="class" href="https://www.freep.com/story/news/local/michigan/2018/03/02/central-michigan-university-shooter/388293002/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Detroit Free Press</a> reports that the fatalities are the parents of the shooter.<br />
The gunman&#8217;s father, James Davis, Sr., was a part-time police officer police and his mother, Diva Davis, was a real estate broker, according to authorities.<br />
Police have swarmed the Mt Pleasant campus looking for the gunman, who was last seen running north, away from the dorm. They believe that he is somewhere within the city limits.<br />
The incident occurred on the last day of classes before spring break and many parents were headed to the school to pick up their kids for the break. Parents were advised to stay away from the campus until calm returned.</p>

<p class="mol-para-with-font">The suspect has been identified as James Eric Davis Jr., a 19-year-old black man. Davis is about five-foot-10, has a slight build, short hair and was last seen wearing yellow jeans, a blue hoodie, and a pistol tucked into his belt. However, it&#8217;s unclear what he is wearing now since officers found several items of clothing along a set of railroad tracks near the scene.</p>

Police said they had contact with him late Thursday night and took him to a local hospital, where he was turned over to the medical staff for what police believe may have been some sort of drug-related issue. Davis Jr. was released from a hospital this morning just before 8am.</p>

<p class="mol-para-with-font">At the afternoon press conference, law enforcement officials said that the suspect had been in contact with officers last night for a &#8216;drug-related incident&#8217;. The officers believed the teen had an &#8216;overdose or bad reaction&#8217; and was taken to the hospital where he was released to medical staff.<br />
The search for the gunman has moved into the city limits, to the north of campus. If anyone sees the suspect, they are being asked to call 911 and not approach him.</p>

<p class="mol-para-with-font">The school posted to their Facebook Friday morning around 9:30am, telling students to shelter in place and avoid the area around Campbell Hall. Classes have been cancelled for the day.<br />
An automated phone message from the school also was sent to students Friday morning.<br />
Surrounding schools, hospitals and offices have also been placed on lockdown.<br />
Parents have been asked to gather at the Comfort Inn on Mission Street until it&#8217;s safe to reunite with their kids.<br />
Central Michigan University has about 23,000 students in Mount Pleasant, which is about 70 miles north of Lansing.<br />
Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder tweeted that he is in &#8216;constant contact&#8217; with the state police over the matter.<br />
&#8216;The priority right now is the safety of those still on campus and I thank all first responders involved for their swift action,&#8217; Snyder said.</p>
