A woman is in custody after allegedly stealing a police car and leading officers on a chase during a DWI arrest in west Houston, Tuesday night.
Late Tuesday night, Houston police officers were finishing a DWI arrest when a woman interrupted them by stealing the cruiser with the DWI suspect in the back seat, according to multiple reports.
An HPD officer pulled over a suspected drunk driver on Memorial at West Loop around 11:50 p.m. Tuesday and just as the arrest was wrapping up, a woman identified as Live God came from the park’s woods, jumped in the police car and drove off, according to KTRK.
God, 31, is in custody after stealing a police car and leading officers on a chase Tuesday night. She pulled over less than a mile away after a very short chase. Cops believe she may have been suffering from some sort of mental health crisis.
God was booked into the Harris County Jail early Wednesday morning on a charge of unauthorized use of a vehicle and bond was set at $1,000.
Her first scheduled court appearance is set for Thursday.
Police said the DWI suspect was unharmed during the chase and, more likely, unaware that the police car was even stolen.
