<p>The Puerto Rico&#8217;s National Guard&#8217;s men, dead have been identified as pilot Jose Rafael Roman : flight engineer Mario Braña; crewmembers Roberto Espada Gali and Victor &#8216;Vitín&#8217; Colon; loadmaster Erick Circuns; mechanic Jan Paravisini; and co-pilot David &#8216;Lanita&#8217; Albandoz.<br />
The ageing aircraft, reportedly part of the fleet that assisted with relief efforts after Hurricane Irma, was being flown for retirement in Arizona when it nosedived into Highway 21 in Savannah, Georgia, on Wednesday close to noon.<br />
The military cargo plane crashed onto a road intersection in Savannah, Georgia, killing the nine people on board. All nine were Puerto Rico residents.<br />
The C-130 Hercules cargo plane which belongs to the 156th Airlift Wing out of Puerto Rico which is stationed at Muñiz Air National Guard Base, in Carolina, crashed around 11.30am. Wednesday at the intersection of two roads near the airport.<br />
According to Senior Master Sgt. Roger Parsons, with the National Air Guard’s 165th Airlift Wing, the plane had taken off from the Savannah airport on a training mission.</p>

<p class="mol-para-with-font">&#8216;While performing a training mission, an U.S. C-130 Hercules cargo plane from the Puerto Rico Air National Guard crashed about 11:30 a.m. today near the Savannah Hilton Head International Airport with 5 people on board,&#8217; the National Guard said in a statement.<br />
&#8216;Personnel are on the scene responding. A board of officers will investigate the accident.&#8217;<br />
Later, Georgia&#8217;s National Guard spokesman confirmed the early death toll.<br />
The plane crashed at the intersection of Georgia 21 and Crossgate Rd. The crash site is 15 miles from Savannah&#8217;s airport.<br />
A photo tweeted by the Savannah Professional Firefighters Association shows the tail end of a plane and a field of flames and black smoke as an ambulance stands nearby.</p>
