<p>A 23-year-old Minnesota man has been charged with kidnapping a 13-year-old Kansas girl he met online, who was found by police in his home last Friday after a 48-hour search.<br />
US Attorney Stephen McAllister announced Dechon White, of St. Paul, was charged Monday in federal court in Kansas.<br />
Court documents indicate White and the girl met online in February, when she was just 12 years old. Dechon White has been charged in federal court with one count of kidnapping the 13-year-old Amber Lynn Rewerts-Schiavoni from Lenexa, U.S. Attorney Stephen McAllister said.<br />
The Amber Alert issued for the Rewerts-Schiavoni on Friday, July 6, 2018 said she was last seen wearing a black ‘Sons of Anarchy’ T-shirt, black jeans, carrying a “shiny” blue woman’s billfold. About 5’05’’ tall and 140 pounds with long, dyed black hair and blue eyes.<br />
White was described as approximately 6’ tall, weighing 250 pounds and sporting a large “afro” style hairdo dyed orange</p>

<p>Court documents indicate White told the teenager&#8217;s mother that he was 16 years old. They also say the two went to a Greyhound bus station in Kansas City, later taking a bus to St. Paul, MN. Police found the victim and White inside his Minnesota home.<br />
White could face at least 20 years in prison and a fine up to $250,000.<br />
Three days earlier Lynn and her father went out for an early 13th birthday celebration. According to William Rewerts, his daughter and White met online.<br />
He didn’t approve of the relationship and tried to put an end to it. In response his daughter moved out and went to stay with her mother.<br />
Her mother acknowledged that White told her and her daughter that he was 16 years old.<br />
She and other members of the family saw the two leave together and said they were headed to Oak Park Mall on the Fourth of July. However, they pair instead boarded the bus<br />
“Just come home,” William Rewerts, her father, said. “It’s not worth it. Just find somebody and come home. I love you, sweetheart. Call me. Do anything.”<br />
At this point they had been communicating with Amber through social media, but they believe she’s not the person on the other end.</p>

<p class="mol-para-with-font">White traveled to Lenexa, Kansas, on July 1 to visit the 13-year-old.<br />
He allegedly lied to the girl&#8217;s mother he was 16 years old, and the woman allowed him to sleep in her daughter&#8217;s room.<br />
Prosecutors say he had sex with the victim while staying in her family&#8217;s home in Lenexa.<br />
At around 2pm on July 4, the 13-year-old and White told the girl&#8217;s mother they were going shopping at Oak Park Mall in Overland Park, but instead they boarded a Greyhound bus just before 8pm that evening and traveled the more than 450 miles to St. Paul, Minnesota.<br />
The girl’s mother reported her missing after being unable to reach her, sparking an Amber Alert.<br />
Police acting on a tip on Friday found White and the child at his home in South St. Paul.<br />
The girl confessed to investigators that when she first connected with White online, she told him she was 16 years old, but later admitted she was 12 at the time, reported <a class="class" href="https://fox4kc.com/2018/07/09/federal-kidnapping-charge-filed-against-suspect-in-lenexa-amber-alert/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Fox 4 KC.<br />
</a>While he was staying with her in Lenexa, Kansas, the 13-year-old said she and White had concocted a plan to run away to Minnesota together.</p>

Four years ago White was arrested for possession of a firearm on school property.<br />
Under questioning, White reportedly admitted that he knew the girl was 12 when he traveled to Kansas. He also confessed to purchasing a one-way ticket to Minnesota for the minor.<br />
During a search of his apartment in St Paul police seized a backpack they say contained White&#8217;s love letters to the girl.<br />
He is being held in the Dakota County Jail on $50,000 bond. If convicted, White faces at least 20 years in prison and a fine up to $250,000.</p>
