<p>A 25-year-old father allegedly shot his six-month-old baby son dead because his wife refused to have sex with him.<br />
Maycon Salustiano Silva is charged with killing his child in the early hours of Wednesday morning after arguing with his 20-year-old wife Jeniffer at their home in Luziania, Brazil.<br />
The baby, named Michel, was pronounced dead in hospital two hours after the incident.</p>

Investigators believe Silva shot the infant at point blank range &#8216;in a moment of rage.&#8217;<br />
&#8216;We believe the suspect, in a moment of rage when he didn&#8217;t get what he wanted, shot the child at point blank range by resting the gun on the baby&#8217;s chest as he lay in the cot in his parent&#8217;s bedroom,&#8217; he told local media.<br />
&#8216;The mother reported that her husband woke her up and wanted to have sex with her. She said she was tired and &#8216;did not want to&#8217;.</p>

<p class="mol-para-with-font">In the midst of the quarrel, it is claimed Silva went to get some water but returned with a gun which he pointed at his wife.<br />
&#8216;At first he allegedly threatened to kill Jeniffer. She begged her husband to stay calm, but he only became angrier,&#8217; Ferreira said.<br />
&#8216;She claims he turned the gun on their son and pointed the gun at his chest while demanding if she believed he had the courage to shoot their child. Then he allegedly shot the baby.&#8217;<br />
Neighbours who heard the woman&#8217;s screams called the police around 1.30am but officers claimed they were unable to identify the house where the shouts came from and called off their search.<br />
A neighbour, who did not want to be named, said: &#8216;She (the mother) was desperate, she could be heard screaming and shouting for help, then she suddenly stopped, and everything went quiet.&#8217;</p>

<p class="mol-para-with-font">Approximately two hours after police were called, an ambulance arrived at the family&#8217;s home. The infant was rushed to an emergency unit, but pronounced dead on arrival.<br />
&#8216;We don&#8217;t know why it took so long for an ambulance to be called out for the child, but the mother claims that after the shooting she blacked out and doesn&#8217;t know how long this was for,&#8217; Ferreira added.<br />
&#8216;Jeniffer said she doesn&#8217;t remember screaming and we believe she must have been in a state of shock.<br />
&#8216;When she came around she realised what had happened and called emergency services, but her child was already dead,&#8217; he reported.</p>

<p class="mol-para-with-font">The young couple, who have been together for four years, were described as &#8216;lovely&#8217; and the &#8216;ideal couple&#8217; in social media messages posted previously by friends.<br />
Michel was their first child together.<br />
Silva, who has no criminal record, was arrested and charged with manslaughter and the illegal possession of a weapon. He is also accused of domestic violence.<br />
The mother was questioned by police and freed on the grounds she was not involved in the crime.</p>
