The shooting began at a trucking company in Bakersfield, about 115 mile north of Los Angeles, at 5.15pm on Wednesday
The gunman went into the business with his wife
He confronted a man inside, shot him before turning the gun on his wife shoot her dead
A man who entered the business saw what was happening and fled, but the gunman chased him and then shot him dead nearby
He then went to a residence 1.8 miles away where he shot 32-year-old Laura Garcia and her father, Eliseo Garcia inside their home
The gunman then carjacked a woman and her daughter and fled, but cornered by cops on Edison Highway, shot himself as cops approached the vehicle
The shooter, his wife and the other two victims are yet to be identified
Authorities believe the killings were targeted but they have yet to find a motive
