<p class="mol-para-with-font">he company, Flushmate, has received more than 1,400 reports in the U.S. of their pressure-assisted toilet flushing systems bursting and causing property damage totaling about $710,000.<br />
At least 23 people have also reported injuries from the exploding toilets, including one person who required foot surgery, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission.</p>

<p class="mol-para-with-font">The recall is for the company&#8217;s Flushmate II 501-B pressure-assisted flushing system that was installed inside toilet tanks manufactured from September 3, 1996 through to December 7, 2013.<br />
The units being recalled are an oval, black, two piece object made of injection molded plastic.<br />
Flushmate says the products were sold at Home Depot and Lowe&#8217;s stores and online retailers, as well as toilet manufacturers, distributors and plumbing contractors across the county from September 1996 to December 2015.<br />
The units were sold for roughly $108 without toilets.<br />
Flushmate said the recalled units have a date code/serial number that is 15 characters long and is located on the label on top of the product.</p>

The first six numerals of the serial number are the date code. The date code range for units included in this recall in MMDDYY format is 090396 (September 3, 1996) through 120713 (December 7, 2013). The model code is 10 characters long and is located on the same product label. The model code starts with M and ends with F.<br />
Units included in this recall were sold individually and installed in toilets manufactured by American Standard, Corona, Crane, Kohler and Mansfield.</div>

<p>The company is warning consumers with one of the recalled units to immediately turn off the water supply to the system and flush the toilet to release the internal pressure.<br />
Consumers should also contact Flushmate to request a free Flushmate replacement unit and installation by a technician.<br />
This is not the first time a similar Flushmate system has been recalled. The Series 503 Flushmate III was recalled in June 2012, January 2014 and July 2016</p>
