The suspect in a nationwide packaged bomb mailing wave targeting critics of President Donald Trump has been identified.
Cesar Altier Sayoc was charged with five federal crimes by the justice department on Friday, including threatening former presidents, threatening current and former federal employees and transposing explosive devices.  He faces up to 58 years in prison, Attorney general Jeff Sessions announced at a press conference on Friday
Sayoc, 56, was taken into custody on Friday morning in Plantation, Florida in connection with the 14 suspicious packages that have been discovered this week.
According to Sayoc’s Facebook page, he is a Trump fan who posted pictures and videos of himself at one of the President’s rallies in October 2016. He also posted a photograph of himself wearing a MAGA hat in front of the US Capitol in 2017.

He was charged Florida’s Dade County in 2002 for the threat to ‘throw, place, project or discharge any destructive device’ according to court records.
Sayoc claims to be Native American, and according to a picture posted on his social media page, he is a member of the Seminole Tribe of Florida. However, other information from his LinkedIn page suggests that the suspect is Filipino.
AG Sessions described the actions of Sayoc, a registered Republican, as ‘partisan’.
The AG was accompanied by FBI director Christopher Wray who emphasised that the devices were not a ‘hoax’.

Earlier in the day, the investigators said they had found two new packages believed to be part of the pipe bomb mailing spree, addressed to Senator Cory Booker and former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper.

The package intercepted on Friday was addressed to Clapper care of CNN, but was spotted by postal inspectors at a sorting facility before delivery.
