Paul Shatswell, 45, was alleged gunned down by his wife, Maria Vides, 39, at their home in Pittsburgh during domestic dispute, on Saturday Feb., 16.<br />
Shatswell, who is the principal at the Pittsburg Adult Education Center, is currently on life support at a hospital and is not expected to survive, <a class="class" href="https://www.mercurynews.com/2019/03/20/wife-of-critically-injured-pittsburg-principal-charged-with-attempted-murder/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">The Mercury News</a> reported.<br />
Maria Vides was self-employed as president of Bay Area Construction Management Accounting Inc. is facing additional special enhancement charges of inflicting great bodily injury causing a brain injury and paralysis.<br />
The second enhancement alleges that Vides shot Shatswell intentionally.<br />
According to Pittsburg police, the shooting happened after a domestic dispute between the two. It has <a href="https://www.eastbaytimes.com/2019/03/18/shooting-of-pittsburg-native-adult-school-principal-leaves-community-in-disbelief/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">left the community stunned</a>.<br />
Shatswell has eight children, ranging in age from 6 to 29.<br />

The fundraiser seeks $25,000 to help the family with “the financial strain that has come from this tragedy.”</p>

&#8216;He’s given back so much to the community as a reserve sheriff’s deputy, a principal and more. He was really beloved in the community. He loved to teach and help give back. It’s really heart-wrenching.&#8217;<br />

At least one man who knows Vides was shocked she has been charged with the shooting.<br />
&#8216;Maria would give you the shirt off her back, her last dollar, be there for you in any situation, at any time,&#8217; former colleague Nicky Ballas wrote in an email.<br />
&#8216;She is the most selfless person I’ve ever known.&#8217;<br />
Ballas said the pair were &#8216;always laughing, loving and enjoying life together. They are the best of friends,&#8217; adding, &#8216;My heart is breaking for them, their families and friends.&#8217;</p>

<p class="mol-para-with-font">Vides was charged by the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office with one count of attempted willful, deliberate and premeditated murder on Wednesday.<br />
Authorities added two enhancements to the charge, the first of which being that Vides inflicted great bodily injury causing a brain injury and paralysis.<br />
A second enhancement alleges that Vides intentionally shot her husband.<br />
Shatswell is currently on life support at John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek.<br />
The write up on the fundraising campaign page states: &#8220;We are asking for help with the financial strain that has come with this tragedy. Paul&#8217;s 8 children all need help in one way or another. Please help the Shatswell family during this heartbreaking tragedy. Anything helps.&#8221;</p>
