<p class="imageCaption">A former South Carolina police chief on probation for robbing a bank in 2017 is accused of pulling off another bank heist and leading cops on a chase that ended when he was shot and wounded.<br />
Former chief Inman, 49, was charged last week with entering a bank, depository or building and loan with intent to steal; and failure to stop for a blue light.<br />

According to local authorities, Inman walked into the Bank of America branch on US 17 in Pawleys Island just before 6pm on March 22 and handed a note to a teller demanding money and claiming her was armed.<br />
With an undisclosed amount of money in hand, Inman then allegedly took off in a van that was spotted by deputies going south on US 17 in Georgetown County, where a chase ensued.</p>

<p class="mol-para-with-font">The pursuit ended after Charleston and Georgetown sheriff&#8217;s deputies opened fire on Inman. The suspect suffered non-life-threatening injuries.<br />
He was initially taken to a hospital for treatment and later booked into the Georgetown County Jail.<br />

At the time of his arrest, Inman was on probation stemming from his previous run-in with the law in June 2017, when he robbed a Bank of America branch in Simpsonville, according to<a class="class" href="https://www.counton2.com/news/local-news/bank-robbery-suspect-transferred-to-georgetown-county/1877034083" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer"> Count On 2 News.</a><br />
He was later handed a sentence of 15 years suspended and four years of probation.<br />
Inman resigned as chief of the Williamston Police Department in 2011, after two years at the helm of the law enforcement agency, at the request of the town&#8217;s then-mayor over racist Facebook messages.</p>
