A police officer has been shot dead while having sex with his married sidechick in a bush in Mpumalanga, South Africa, on Saturday March 11.
Judas Chiloane, the Municipal Chief Traffic Officer of Bushbuckridge, in Mpumalanga was reportedly killed in the back seat of his Ford Ranger pickup.
The 60-year-old cop had parked in a bushy area with his girlfriend where the pair engaged in sex. He was shot twice while his partner who was unharmed.
Chiloane’s family said the father-of-three was not married but had a live-in girlfriend. His lover, according to local news outlets, is married and works in media
Two suspects, Charles Mbungeni Mabuza, 35, and Howard Mashego, 38, arrested on Monday, March 13, in connection with the murder. Detectives who tracked and arrested the suspects in Hazyview, also recovered a firearm that had it’s serial number filed-off.
However, authorities have launched a manhunt for a third suspect, because only one of the suspects in custody one was positively linked to the murder of chief Chiloane. The actual accomplice is still on the run.
The two were arraigned in court on Wednesday, March 15. One of the suspects in his police interview said the location where Chiloane was slain is his hunting ground for sexually active couples.
Mabuza faces charges of murder and possession of a prohibited firearm, while Mashego faces a charge of possession of an unlicensed firearm.
Commenting on the incident Thursday, police spokesperson, Captain Dineo Sekgotodi, said: “The two men told us that they would normally go to the spot near Graskop Road [where Chiloane was shot dead] to rob couples who use the area to engage in jola-joling [sex] in their cars.”
They reportedly snatched away his gun before firing shots at his thigh and upper body. The lady sought help, and when the police came, they declared their colleague dead at the scene.
A source that Chiloane was found with no clothes, and his uniform was on the ground. He said.
“They shot him in the leg. He tried [to] escape to the driver’s side, and he was shot again … The officer tried to speed off for about 124 meters, but succumbed due to injuries sustained. It seemed like the suspect took his firearm and other items and [fled].”
Judas Chiloane’s brother, Richard told reporters that they don’t know this side chick he was with when he was murdered. He said.
“We do not know that lady, I haven’t even seen her. What we know is that my brother was a good man who loved his family and was also a member of the Zion Christian Church [ZCC]. He did not drink or was involved in anything wrong.”
Richard admitted that the father of three might have had lovers on the side, but the family only knew his live-in girlfriend.
