<div class="wp-caption-text featured">A Pennsylvania tourist collapsed and died in the same Dominican Republic hotel where an engaged couple from Maryland was found dead five days later — and from the very same condition, according to alarming reports.<br />
Psychotherapist Miranda Schaup-Werner, 41, from Allentown, died in front of her husband in their room in the Bahía Príncipe hotel in La Romana on May 25, <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/world/pennsylvania-woman-dominican-hotel-maryland-couple">after having a drink at the minibar</a>.<br />
Edward Nathaniel Holmes, 63, and Cynthia Ann Day, 49, checked into the all-inclusive hotel the same day Schaup-Werner died.<br />
Five days later the engaged couple fromMaryland both were also found dead in their room.<br />
Cause of death for all three was pegged as &#8216;respiratory failure&#8217;,which a family spokesman for Schaup-Werner called “beyond coincidence.”<br />
Schaup-Werner’s family is so “alarmed” by the ” disturbing similarity ” between the deaths they have called on the US State Department to investigate the strange coincidence.<br />
“They died five days after, and the cause was determined to be the same, this just puts this whole thing through the stratosphere — something is going on, and we want to know what it is,” said Jay McDonald, acting as the family spokesman for Schaup-Werner’s husband, Daniel Werner.<br />
Schaup-Werner and her husband had been on the island celebrating her ninth anniversary when she suddenly collapsed after having a drink, McDonald told Fox.Nathaniel: “It was, at first, a little confusing that there was such a strong parallel … it immediately caused serious concern for us,” McDonald said.</div>

<div class="wp-caption-text featured">“She started shrieking and she dropped to the floor. He attempted to do CPR, he tried to resuscitate her,” McDonald said his brother-in-law told him.<br />
Paramedics arrived and gave an epinephrine injection — usually used to treat severe allergic reactions. “At that point, they just declared her dead,” McDonald said, adding that the authorities “did a very cursory [look] into determining the cause of death.”<br />
“Daniel and all of us are in a state of disbelief, we are shocked. She was perfectly content, everything seemed fine,” McDonald insisted.<br />
The US State Department confirmed the three deaths.<br />
“The U.S. Embassy is actively monitoring the investigations by Dominican authorities into these tragic deaths,” it said in a statement to Fox.<br />
“We stand ready to provide assistance as requested.”<br />
The deaths come after Tammy Lawrence-Daley , 51, said she was attacked by an unknown assailant wearing a resort uniform while vacationing in the country in January.<br />
Lawrence-Daley, who suffered a broken nose, fractured hand, partial hearing loss in her left ear and had her mouth “ripped apart,” said in an interview this week that she blames herself for the attack in Punta Cana.</div>
