<p>A 63-year-old high school teacher from North Carolina has been arrested for allegedly carrying on a sexual relationship with her 17-year-old student.<br />
Emma Neil Ogle of Huntersville, NC, was arrested around 8 p.m. on Halloween.<br />
Ogle, a career and technical education [CTE] Health Occupations teacher at Garinger High School in Charlotte, was taken into custody on Halloween and charged with a sex act with a student, indecent liberties with a student and a crime against nature.<br />
According to law enforcement officials, Ogle began a relationship with the student last spring and it turned sexual over the summer.</p>

<p class="mol-para-with-font">Ogle has been with Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools since 2005. She taught at Vance High School for nine years before taking a job at Garinger High School in 2014<br />
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg School district administrators said Ogle has been suspended with pay pending the outcome of an investigation, reported <a class="class" href="https://www.wcnc.com/article/news/crime/charlotte-teacher-charged-for-sex-with-student/275-0aa81e54-6f74-44f4-8bb3-677ce479a168" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">WCNC</a>.<br />
Online records indicate that besides being a teacher, Ogle is also a registered nurse.<br />
Social media posts suggest that she is possibly married and has a grown daughter.</p>

Lisa Rothwell admitted in court on October 28 pled</span></span><span style="color: var(--color-text);"> guilty to having sex with two students at a last-minute court hearing.</span>Rothwell was an assistant principal at Stuart W. Cramer High School when she was accused of having sex with a 17-year-old student.<br />
At trial it was also revealed that Rothwell also had sex with an 18-year-old student in September while working at the school.</p>

<p>According to the search warrants, she confessed to texting the 17-year-old from the beginning of March until police got a tip earlier this month and started an investigation.<br />
<span style="color: var(--color-text);">Rothwell was initially suspended with pay from the school, but since her guilty plea, she has surrendered her teacher&#8217;s license and resigned from her position as assistant principal.<br />
</span>She was handed a sentence of 10 to 21 months, suspended, which means she will not serve any prison time, but she is required to register as a sex offender for 30 years.<br />
District Attorney Locke Bell said he agreed to the plea because Rothwell had no prior charges, and she was cooperative with investigators from the start. He said she &#8220;never tried to play games.&#8221;</p>

<p>Police reportedly acted fast in their investigation after hearing chatter on campus between students.<br />
&#8220;There was some chatter among students that was passed back and forth, which made its way to school administration,&#8221; Gaston County police Capt. Bill Downey said.<br />
Investigators said Rothwell began tutoring the victim last school year.<br />
<span style="color: var(--color-text);">&#8220;Tutoring, the assistant principal, in this case, was helping the young man with some issues as far as school,&#8221; Capt. Downey said.<br />
</span>Rothwell had over 10 years of experience with Gaston County Schools, according to the district’s website.<br />
The apparent lenient sentence has not gone down well with the victims&#8217; families.<br />
In a media statement the 17-year-old victim&#8217;s mother said the assistant principal at her son&#8217;s high school preyed on him for sex: &#8220;I feel betrayed by somebody that I gave my child to because I wanted so bad for him to succeed,&#8221; she said.</p>
