<div>A family&#8217;s Thanksgiving cheer turned to grief after a mother shot and killed her adutlt daughter, police said.<br />
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department said in a news release that officers were called to the apartment shortly before 10pm on Thursday.<br />
There they found a woman with a gunshot wound who was transported to the hospital.<br />
The woman, identified as 37-year-old Chante Lavarche Alexander, was pronounced dead at the hospital.<br />
A police news release said the suspected shooter, the victim&#8217;s mother, 56-year-old Elvira Elizabeth Alexander, has been charged with murder and possession of a stolen firearm.</div>

<p class="mol-para-with-font">A police spokesman said he didn&#8217;t know whether the suspect has a lawyer who can speak on her behalf.<br />
On Alexander’s Facebook page, friends expressed shock over the death of a woman they described as a fun-loving person who liked to socialize.<br />
One of her cousins wrote: ‘I love U Cuz Chante Lavarche Tha life of EVERY mf party FACTS!!’<br />
After hearing of Alexander’s death, another friend wrote: ‘“Peace be still&#8221; I just can&#8217;t seam to go back to sleep after finding out a love one is gone. I love you… You will be missed. Gone too soon. R.I.P. until we meet again.’<br />
Alexander’s aunt, Yvonne Yaqoob, wrote: ‘WOW In disbelief PRAYERS for The Alexander Family ..My Family&#8230;RIH To My Niecey… [She] will be missed.’<br />
Donta Gaten wrote: ‘Known you since middle school. R.I.P.’</p>
