A man has been arrested in connection with the murder of his best friend at his wedding in 2018, after allegedly hiding footage of the shooting in Bayon Rouge, LA.
Christopher Jerome Sterling, 42, has been arrested for obstruction of justice and accessory after the fact for second degree murder.
His bestman 36-year-old Byron Jenkins, was shot and killed just after the wedding in January 2018.
Another guest at the wedding, a 23-year-old woman was also shot in the shoulder and sustained non-life threatening injuries in the shooting.
According to police, Sterling was holding his ‘wedding after-party’ at the Sterling and Sterling Detail Shop when the incident occurred at around 3am.
Jenkins had been his best man at Sterling’s ceremony just hours earlier.

Although Sterling is not accused of carrying out the shooting himself, he is alleged to have told police that his surveillance camera system was not working at the time of the shooting. He also denied seeing what happened.
Police also spoke with 18 people who were present at the party following the incident for their accounts.
But officers later received an anonymous tip-off that the surveillance cameras were in fact working.
Sterling is alleged to have removed the DVR recorder in order to protect the identity of the gunman reports WAFB.
Almost 18 months after the shooting, police finally managed to obtain pictures of Jenkins inside the building, minutes before his death.

The cameras, at the time, appeared to be in full working order.
Officials say while on scene, detective spoke to 18 people inside the building, including Sterling. Police say Sterling was part owner of the business and also the groom. He reportedly told police Jenkins was his best man and that he did not see the shooting happen.
On May 11, 2019, authorities received photos of the victim standing inside of the business with the camera monitors operable in the background prior to his death. Arrest records say Christopher Sterling removed the DVR system prior to the police arriving, concealing evidence of the crime.
The arrest report says Sterling was specifically asked about any surveillance cameras on the property and that he reportedly claimed the cameras were not working. Police say all of the witnesses claimed to have not seen the shooting happen.
During the investigation, police received several anonymous tips about the security cameras being operable, Sterling removing the system, and the identification of the shooter, who police say is another friend of Sterling’s.
Sterling was booked Tuesday for obstruction of justice and accessory after the fact to second-degree murder according to WBRZ.
Police believe that the person who ended up shooting Jenkins is also a friend of Sterlings but has not yet been arrested at this time.
