The body of a 28-year-old woman was found by officers in the trunk of a man’s car following a police chase. The 28-year-old’s remains were discovered Saturday after the pursuit when troopers searched the car belonging to the dead woman’s acquaintance after he was caught speeding.
Troopers spotted a white Honda, belonging to Victor Campbell Jr., 35, from Fresno speeding in downtown Beaumont, Texas at around 7.45am on Saturday.
After being pulled over, the driver took off again and a brief police pursuit took place before Campbell crashed near a church resale parking lot, abc13 reports.
The troopers from the Texas Department of Public Safety then discovered the lifeless body of Briana Teirra Johnson in the trunk while searching the car.
Surveillance footage from near Briana’s home in Maggie Street, Sunnyside, Houston, captured Campbell putting her body into the trunk of his car at around 4.55am.
Sources told abc13 that the 35-year-old man, who has been charged with family violence before, had occasionally stayed at her home but said they were unsure what their relationship was.
A week before her death, Briana posted on Facebook about a date night with Campbell.
Following the crash, Campbell was rushed to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries before being taken to Jefferson County jail.

Campbell is said to have occasionally stayed at her home but sources said they were unsure what their relationship was.
Following the crash, Campbell was rushed to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries before being taken to Jefferson County jail where he is held on bonds of more than $500,000
He faces charges for felony evading arrest, driving while intoxicated, tampering with evidence and abuse of a corpse, with the potential for more charges.
The cause of Briana’s death is not yet known and an autopsy has been ordered.
Make-up loving Briana, a Texas Southern University graduate, has been described by her friends as funny and happy. Cierra Kenner said: ‘She always kept me laughing.’
Her family have set up a GoFundMe page to raise funds for Briana’s funeral.
