She resorted to the extreme measures after her fiancé failed to follow through on his promise to marry her.
The fed-up fiancée has taken him to court to demand he outline his plans for the future after becoming tired of waiting, as well as doubting his loyalty after catching him texting another woman.
‘He has never been serious, that is why I bought him to court because I deserve to know the way forward and our future,’ Ng’oma told the court, according to Mwebantu.

The pair had never stayed together despite dowry being paid, she told the court.
In his defense, Salaliki said that he wants to marry Ngoma but can’t afford to, and claimed that they don’t communicate because she doesn’t give him enough attention.
The willing bride told the court that she now feels Salaliki, 28, is not serious about their relationship, despite having completed the traditional marriage rites of a dowry payment.
A dowry or bride’s price in Zambia is called ‘lobola‘. It is a pre-wedding practice where the groom is asked to pay an appreciation fee to his intended wife’s family for raising her well. This fee is usually in monetary form in urban cities, or in livestock in rural areas.
Before the process, a groom must declare his intention to marry the bride by bringing plates filled with money which is called ‘nsalamu‘ to his bride’s relatives.
In this instance, despite the payment being made, the couple who share a child have never lived together, with Gertrude continuing to stay with her parents instead of her matrimonial home, leaving the bride feeling that that her groom is not serious about their relationship.

But groom defended his decision by saying that he’s not financially stable enough to afford a wedding.
He also said he was reluctant to get married, blaming Gertrude for not giving him the attention he thought he deserved.
Judge Evelyn Nalwize, presiding over the case at Kabushi Local Court, advised Gertrude to sue for breach of marriage contract but said the authorities could do little more to intervene.
The magistrate instead ruled that the two should attempt to reconcile their differences out of court.
