<p class="wp-block-paragraph">A high school English teacher from Harris County, Texas has been accused of repeatedly sexually assaulting her 16-year-old male student, and also throwing a pair of scissors at the child in a jealous rage. <br>Katrina Louisa Maxwell, 32, of Houston, was arrested last week on two counts of sexual assault of a child between ages 14-17, accused of having sexual encounters with a student at C.E. King High School during the spring break in March and April. <br>Maxwell, who had been nominated for a teaching award by her students, has been fired from her job in the wake of her arrest. <br>According to court <a href="https://www.click2houston.com/news/local/2021/06/21/sheldon-isd-teacher-fired-charged-with-2-counts-of-sexual-assault-of-child-documents-show/">documents</a>, Maxwell&#8217;s alleged relationship with the minor first came to light when a colleague at the school observed her behavior as she watched the boy&#8217;s interaction with his girlfriend. <br>The same school staffer also reported seeing Maxwell hurl a pair of scissors at the teenager&#8217;s head because he sat next to his girlfriend.<br>An investigation was then launched by the school district, during which Maxwell allegedly admitted to having sex with the 16-year-old in the backseat of her car on two separate occasions.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Maxwell during her interview professed that she loved the 16-year-old boy, <a rel="noreferrer noopener" target="_blank" href="https://abc13.com/10817834/?fbclid=IwAR235xHvskJI65YHbS4m_WX7W6Sxy1EIu1tocWopOvpS97Qcns-4ymwRUUQ">ABC13</a> reports. Maxwell was quoted as saying that she believed she was &#8216;a good teacher,&#8217; and lamented that now she would be known &#8216;as the teacher that f****ed her student.&#8217; <br>The boy was interviewed by authorities shortly after. Court documents state the student confirmed he had a sexual relationship with Maxwell over spring break. He told investigators that he and his English teacher had sex several times between March and April, according to the documents.<br>He reportedly knew Maxwell since October 2020, but the relationship began around March 2021.<br>The teen also said Maxwell picked him up from his aunt&#8217;s house once, took him to a hotel nearby and had sexual intercourse for the first time, investigators said.<br>The Sheldon Independent School District released a statement, confirming Maxwell&#8217;s termination following an internal investigation that had substantiated the misconduct claims against her. <br>The district spokesperson stated that the findings of the probe were then turned over to law enforcement, and the district was said to have &#8216;strongly encouraged&#8217; the district attorney&#8217;s office to accept the charges.<br>&#8220;<em>Sheldon ISD district administration was recently made aware of an inappropriate relationship between former Sheldon ISD teacher Mrs. Katrina Maxwell and a Sheldon ISD high school student. Once district administration was notified, the teacher was immediately removed from the school campus, and the district notified law enforcement as well as Child Protective Services (CPS). The district has conducted a thorough investigation and upon completion, we find these reports to be substantiated. All findings have been turned over to law enforcement, and the district is expecting charges to be brought forth. We highly encourage the Harris County District Attorney’s office to take the appropriate action by accepting the charges and making an arrest. Based on our investigative process, this teacher has been terminated and is no longer employed in Sheldon ISD.&#8221;</em><br>Noting that &#8216;the district’s first concern is always the safety of our students while providing a safe and secure place for students to learn, the state goes on to say that Sheldon ISD is deeply saddened at the behavior and<em> &#8220;committed to continued cooperation with law enforcement to ensure Mrs. Maxwell is prosecuted to the fullest extent</em>.&#8221; <br>Maxwell was released from jail after posting $20,000 bond. <br>She is due back in court on September 29. </p>
