<p>A married police officer pursued his girlfriend to a hospital in Njoro, Kenya on Sunday night and shot her dead before he committed suicide, causing panic at the health facility. The shooter identified as Police Constable Bernard Sivo, 28, shot his sidechick dead before committing suicide at Njoro in Nakuru County, Kenya. <br>On Sunday night an enraged Sivo stormed Njoro Subcounty Hospital with a fully loaded AK 47 assault rifles. <br>According to a police report, his 29-year-old girlfriend, Mary Nyambura got to the hospital an hour earlier with a fractured her right leg and told the doctors that she had been assaulted by the police officer boyfriend. <br>As the doctors were attending to her, an enraged Sivo barged his way into the room ad opened fire. <br>He shot Nyambura several times on the right arm, wrist, and back, killing her on the spot. <br></p>

<p>According to the police report, PC Sivo had just taken over shift duties at the Njoro Police Station that night before excusing himself to make a call outside, only to pursue the woman to the hospital..<br>Vincent Lematoo, a security officer in the hospital recounted how the constable got in the hospital in a rage, before shooting at a woman who had come to the hospital a while earlier. <br>&#8220;He got here at 12am, an hour after the lady. He pushed me to get out of his way in, and he began shooting immediately.&#8221; he narrated. <br>Njoro Subcounty Police Commander, Jonathan Kisaka, who confirmed the incident said that the victim, Mary Nyambura, suffered serious leg trauma, after she allegedly, was assaulted by her married police officer boyfriend. <br>She had gone to the hospital to seek treatment before her assailant walked in and shot her dead. <br>“It is a sad morning in Njoro. We had an incident at around 0023hours where the OCS Njoro received information of a patient who had gone to the hospital to seek medication after being assaulted by a person she claimed was her boyfriend. <br>Soon after a man armed with an Ak 47 riffle showed up at the hospital and he shot the patient. It turned out that he was the person who had assaulted the woman. <br>The shooter was later identified as a police officer stationed at the Njoro Police station,” Cdr. Kisaka explained. </p>

<p>According to Police Cdr. Kisaka, PC Sivo then left the station for his home where he again shot once in the air, after informing his wife that he had killed the person with whom she had been having problems. <br>&#8220;He told the wife that the woman you have been conflicting with is now dead,&#8221; Kisaka added. <br>The wife however fled for safety, and while Sivo was walking back to the station, he promised the station chief who had heard the gunshots that he would not shoot again, Still he fired more shots in the air.<br>Moments later, drama ensued at the Njoro police station when constable Sivo lost control and started shooting aimlessly. <br>According to Kisaka, for a while the station appeared to be under siege, before Sivo moved away, albeit momentarily. <br>His incoherent behavior led to police officers being mobilized to take him into custody. When Sivo realized that he had been outmaneuvered, he turned the gun on himself.. <br>“The officers were mobilized to disarm him but unfortunately he shot himself on the chin and the bullet exited on the upper forehead and he died instantly,” police in Nakuru said.<br>Addressing the rising number of incidents of police officers killing their colleagues, family and friends, Kisaka said that those are personal weaknesses. <br>Citing the case of Const. Sivo, Cdr. Kisaka remarked that the officer had not shown any signs of strain or depression, and he had been discharging his duties as a police officer since he was assigned to Njoro as his first duty post. <br>The bodies of the victim and the shooter have since been transferred to the Egerton University Morgue awaiting postmortem. </p>
