Dramatic surveillance camera footage captured the moment a Florida man stepped out of a car and walked into a sheriff’s department to confess to resolve a 10 year cold case murder.
Benjamin Moulton, 43, turned himself into the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office Wednesday and confessed to the killing of Nicole Rose Scott, 29, a suspected prostitute who was found dead in December 2011. The Sarasota woman’s body at about 11 a.m. on Dec. 11, 2011 in a ditch near the intersection of University and Bourneside Boulevard near The Concession Golf Club, in Manatee County.
Moulton was charged after he proved he was in possession of details of the murder that detectives had kept private from the general public, that only a person familiar with the killing could have known.
During the confession, Moulton told police that he had ‘found Jehovah, and couldn’t live with the guilt anymore’. Moulton was allegedly a client of Scott’s who was believed to be a prostitute.

It is unclear how their paths crossed at the time and what Moulton’s motive was behind the murder. ‘We know that he had interactions with her back in 2011. We went to his home and questioned him but didn’t have evidence to put him at the crime scene,’ Manatee County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Randy Warren told Bradenton Herald.
‘We still don’t know where the crime occurred and that is part of our ongoing investigation. But we do know that he was with her in a vehicle and then drove her to the location.’
Moulton has since been charged with first-degree murder.
He is being held in jail, and refused to appear in person for his first court hearing Thursday, where a judge ordered him held without bond.
On December 11, 2011, Scott’s body was found by a male motorcyclist around the University Parkway in the Lakewood Ranch wooden area, near The Concession Golf Club

He was going in the woods to urinate when he spotted Scott’s body lying in a ditch.
She was found with her pants around her right ankle and her shirt wrapped around her neck.
Her purse, bra and shoes were about three feet away from her with a folding knife two feet from her body.
Her face showed visible signs that she had endured a violent death.
Authorities had said that she died at least two days before she was found.
An autopsy later revealed she was strangled, but police did not immediately release the information in hopes the killer wouldn’t get alerted.
At the time that Scott’s body was found, police conducted an investigation and followed tips that led them to Moulton. He denied having any involvement in the murder and due to lack of evidence, he was never charged.
Detectives on the case, did not say whether she was killed at the scene or was placed there following her death.

Moulton himself has several offenses for missing traffic lights, driving under the influence, marijuana possession, trespassing, burglary, and resisting arrest.
In 2012, a year after Scott’s murder, he was charged with aggravated battery to a pregnant woman and sexual assault with a weapon.
Scott also had a long record that included multiple drug possession charges, prowling, robbery, fraud, larceny, prostitution, and vehicle theft, according to YourObserver.com.
She was not employed at the time of her death.
‘We can’t say for sure about her troubled past being related to her death, but certainly, that’s possible,’ one of the investigators told the outlet in 2011.
