Texas authorities have launched a manhunt for an armed teen who opened fire inside a high school in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex on Wednesday morning. Four people were injured, prompting terrified students to stack chairs and desks against doors as a barricade.
After a few hours of a manhunt 18-year-old Timothy George Simpkins the student shooter was taken into custody. Timothy Simpkins turned himself in with his attorney about 1:30 p.m. and is being interviewed by detectives.
Simpkins, had fled Timberview High School in Arlington, in a 2018 Silver Dodge Charger after the shooting.  
Simpkins arrived at the Arlington Police Department with his attorney and was handcuffed in the parking lot.
He is expected to appear before a judge at 6 p.m.
He faces three counts of aggravated assault, police said.
Arlington police announced that they found a .45-caliber handgun on a street in Grand Prairie that they believe was used in the shooting and it will be turned over to the ATF for ballistics testing.

A total of four people were hurt, including two students and two adults.
Assistant Police Chief Kevin Kolbye said that one student and an adult staff member were shot, and another student was grazed by a bullet.
The 15-year-old student who was shot underwent surgery and he is in the ICU, authorities said. A Medical City Arlington hospital spokesman said one victim was in critical condition and the other two patients were in good condition.
The teenage female student who was grazed by a bullet and suffered abrasions is expected to be discharged from the hospital, in stable condition.

One parent wrote: ‘My daughter just texted me that there was a school school shooting at Timberview H.S. In Mansfield ISD in Arlington, TX. She sent this video that’s out. Her nearby school is on lockdown also, ….. Praying’

Arlington Police Assistant Chief Kevin Kolbye said: ‘This is not a random act of violence. This is not somebody attacking our school.’ 
‘This is a student, we believe right now, preliminary, that it was a student that got into a fight and drew a weapon,’ he said.
Investigators said that a fight ensued in a classroom, prompting the suspect to open fire.
Three of the victims were rushed to hospital while the fourth suffered minor injuries after falling, declined hospital care, according to police. 
Arlington police said two victims underwent surgery at a local hospital.

The Mansfield Independent School District which oversees the school released a statement saying that the school was on lockdown and that students and staff were ‘locked in their classrooms/offices.’

A pregnant woman fell during the shooting and was treated at the scene. 
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives said it will track down the weapon that was used.
‘We’ll figure out where this individual got this gun from,’ Jeff Boshek, the special agent in charge of the ATF’s Dallas Field Division stated.
‘Our agents won’t sleep, working with our partners here, to figure out how he got this weapon in his hand to come in this school and cause this tragedy today.
‘So, I don’t have much information I can give you on the weapon. Obviously, we don’t have that yet.
‘We haven’t been in the school to figure out the caliber of the weapon or anything like that yet, but as soon as we do, we’ll have something to get out to you guys.’  
The school district announced that a lockdown had been lifted after the ‘all clear’ was given and the building was secured a short time later.

One woman posted a video clip on social media from her daughter purported to be a student at the school. The clip shows students rushing out of their seats after hearing loud bangs.

Arlington police said the school district is setting up a staging area where parents can meet their children.
The reunification point is at the Center for Performing Arts located at 1110 W. Debbie Lane.

The shooting happened just days after a shooting at a Houston charter school that injured an administrator. Texas’ deadliest school shooting occurred in May of 2018 when a then-17-year-old armed with a shotgun and a pistol opened fire at Santa Fe High School near Houston, killing 10 people, most of whom were students.
