<p class="wp-block-paragraph">A pregnant Philadelphia woman was shot dead after her baby shower as she was unloading gifts from her car. <br>The seven-month pregnant Jessica Covington, 32, received multiple shots to her head and belly at her home in in Lawncrest at around 8.30pm on Saturday.<br>A police officer heard the gunfire and rushed to the scene and the victim was taken to Einstein Medical Center where her and her unborn baby were pronounced dead. <br>Police believe that the killing was targeted, possibly domestic in nature. Investigators counted about 11 shell casings at the scene of the shooting. <br>No suspects have been identified and the incident remains under investigation.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">&#8216;I mean, the person that did this couldn’t be more cowardly,&#8217; Deputy Police Commissioner Christine Coulter told ABC6. Coulter also added that she was fed up with the area&#8217;s rising gun violence. <br>&#8216;The city is nearing 500 homicides. Children are getting shot, unborn children getting shot, what is the city doing about this?&#8217; she asked. <br>&#8216;The city as a whole is doing what we can. We can&#8217;t stop people who are intent on shooting somebody. ;<br>&#8216;When I look at this situation, it looks like someone was targeting her and looking for her.&#8217;</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Coulter is not the only person angered over the ongoing violence as residents have also expressed their concerns. &#8216;Enough is enough,&#8217; neighbor Tom McDonald also told ABC. &#8216;It’s time for the city to do something – something.&#8217; ; <br>This shooting is not the first that happened in Philadelphia on Saturday. <br>Another man was shot dead in his car at around 3.45am on the 5100 block of F Street. <br>He had been shot through the driver&#8217;s side door and suffered a gunshot wound to his head. ;</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">An investigation continued Sunday with Mayor Jim Kenney announcing the city is offering a $50,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest. <br>“This news is deeply upsetting and heartbreaking,” Kenney tweeted, who urged anyone with information to contacting police by calling or texting 215-686-8477.</p>
