<p class="wp-block-paragraph">A substitute English teacher in Florida is facing multiple sexual assault charges for allegedly having sex with a student on four separate occasions, after a recording of one of the alleged encounters surfaced on Snapchat. <br>Ayanna Davis, 20, was arrested Friday by detectives with the Polk County Sheriff&#8217;s Office, after a Lakeland Senior High School student notified school resource officers on December 3 of the video, which allegedly showed Davis having sex with another student, police say. <br>According to the sheriff&#8217;s office, the video was at some point uploaded to the multimedia messaging app and shown to a large group of Lakeland High football players before it came to the school&#8217;s attention. Police add that the victim, a boy, was under the age of 17 when the alleged crimes occurred.<br>The investigation began December 3, after a student informed a resource officer with the Lakeland Police Department about a video on Snapchat that allegedly showed the victim and Davis having sex, and that the video had been shown to a large number of Lakeland High football players, the sheriff’s office said. <br>After receiving the tip from the unnamed witness, Lakeland police handed the case to the sheriff&#8217;s office, determining that Davis’ residence is outside of Lakeland&#8217;s city limits, in unincorporated Polk County. <br>During her interview Davis allegedly admitted to Polk County detectives that she had had unprotected sex with the student on four separate occasions &#8211; twice at his house, and twice at hers, a statement that corroborated information given detectives by the victim, according to the sheriff’s office. <br>She had her first appearance on Saturday facing five charges of sexual battery and offenses against students by an authority figure.<br>She was also served with the initial warrant from the Lakeland Police Department, which charged her with an additional two counts of sexual battery, according to police. <br>&#8216;This is a clear violation of sexual battery laws,&#8217; Sheriff Grady Judd said in a statement regarding Davis&#8217; Friday arrest.<br>&#8216;She was in a position of influence over the victim, and she took advantage of that for her own twisted pleasure.&#8217; <br>Davis had been working at Lakeland High School as a substitute English teacher under the employment of school staffing company Kelly Education, a firm that occasionally recruits substitutes for schools in Polk County. </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The sheriff&#8217;s office noted Davis is not a Polk County Public Schools employee, but a staffer employed at the school through Kelly Educational. <br>Polk County Public Schools also commented on the scandal, affecting the substitute teacher.<br>&#8216;We expect substitute teachers to uphold the same high standards of conduct and professionalism as our full-time educators,&#8217; Superintendent Frederick Heid said in a statement from the Polk County Public Schools district.<br>&#8216;The charges against this person are disgraceful and a complete violation of the trust that teachers build with their students. <br>&#8216;There is no room in our schools for this type of conduct.&#8217;<br>The district has since ordered that Davis no longer be permitted to work at any of its schools. <br>She is currently being held at Polk County Jail, on a $60,000 bond. <br>Her arraignment hearing is slated for January 10. </p>
