Texas man over the weekend shot and killed his son, parents and his ex-girlfriend’s four-year-old son, before calmly calling cops and turning the gun on himself as officers arrived

Five people died at two locations – including the gunman – were killed and three others were injured in a shooting massacre in the towns of Corsicana and Frost, outside Dallas, Texas

Crime was discovered after gunman Kevin Milazzo, 41, called cops shortly after midnight on Saturday, to report that he’d ‘killed his family members

They Responding officers found the gunman’s stepdad William ‘Bill’ Mimms, 68, and his mom Connie Mimms, 61, dead at home in Corsicana

Two other residents of the home were taken to hospital with gunshot injuries

At another household 20 miles away in the town of Frost, the gunman’s 21-year-old son Joshua Milazzo was discovered slain along with a four-year-old boy, Hunter Freeman

Hunter was the son of the killer’s ex-girlfriend, Pattie Freeman, 38, who was also shot multiple times and was transported to hospital with severe injuries

Milazzo turned the gun on himself before police could arrest him Sunday

The ex, Pattie Freeman, was also injured in the mass shooting that began in Corsicana, 50 miles south of Dallas. Law enforcement became aware of the massacre when gunman Kevin Milazzo called shortly after midnight to report that he’d ‘killed his family members.’
Police arrived to find Milazzo’s stepfather William Mimms, 68, and mother Connie Mimms, 61, dead. Two other victims were suffered gunshot injuries, investigators said in a release.
Meantime, the Navarro County Sheriff’s Department responded to another home in Frost – about 20 miles west of Corsicana where they found Milazzo’s 21-year-old son Joshua dead from gunshot injuries.

The body of Hunter Freeman, four, was also discovered. A woman with multiple gunshot wounds was rushed to a Dallas-area trauma center; a family friend identified the survivor as the boy’s mom Pattie Freeman and said she was in ‘stable’ condition. 
Following the shootings, police tracked down the gunman’s car using his GPS and arranged for the monitoring service to have its engine shut off.
But as officers approached the vehicle, they discovered the killer inside with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He died at a local hospital. 

The motive for the shooting remained unclear Sunday.
A family friend described four-year-old Hunter as a miracle child. Apparently his mother Pattie was told she could never have children, then along came Hunter at the age of 38, after improving her health. Her boy was born premature the following year weighing just three pounds, eight ounces.
‘Although he had a fight ahead of him to survive, this little boy surprised everyone and grew to be a healthy, beautiful, child,’ Jerri Whitener wrote on Facebook. 
‘Hunter was also born with a cleft lip and would need surgery in the future. Pattie knew that she wanted to give Hunter a good life and him not suffer the hardships she had to endure throughout her life, so she decided to do everything she could to give him that chance.’

The single mom became a certified medical assistant and landed a job in the field before the shooting. ‘Unfortunately, Hunter was only on this earth for 1,511 days,’ Whitener said.
‘On February 5, around midnight his light went out. 
‘Pattie struggled to make ends meet, but she did it, especially after becoming a mother. Now, she is fighting for her life. Due to her injuries, she will need years of medical care.’

According to Connie’s profile, she worked as a registered nurse. One grandchild, Marissa Milazzo, called upon friends to share memories of the other victims she came to grips with the slayings.
‘I’m asking that anyone who knew my grandparents or brothers and they impacted your life in any way you feel, please send me your stories,’ she wrote on Facebook.
‘Send me your pictures. They were some of the sweetest and most caring people and I know they impacted many many lives and I would like to hear everyone’s story and see all of the pictures.’
Rita Canales categorized her friends Connie and Bill as ‘wonderful people’. Others recalled the couple’s faith and devotion to each other.
