<p class="wp-block-paragraph">A 31-year-old Missouri man will spend the rest of his life behind bars after he was sentenced to life in prison for the murder of his pregnant wife three years ago. battered Jennifer Rothwell and searched for advice on how to deal with a spouse upset by a pregnancy shortly before she was battered to death by Beau Rothwell<br>Jennifer&#8217;s end came when she confronted her husband about his extra-marital affair.<br>Beau Rothwell was sentenced to life without parole Friday in St. Louis County for the November 2019 <a href="https://konniemoments.com/2019/11/19/st-louis-man-28-charged-with-murdering-his-chemical-engineer-wife-leads-police-to-body-beau-rothwell-flipped-after-he-was-caught-on-store-cameras-buying-cleaning-products-cops-also-found-a-bleach/">murder of Jennifer Rothwell</a>, 28, by bludgeoning her with a mallet during an argument over an unidentified woman he was having an affair with. <br>Rothwell, who was <a href="https://konniemoments.com/2022/05/02/missouri-man-convicted-after-admitting-to-fatally-hitting-pregnant-wife-in-the-head-with-a-mallet-during-heated-argument-over-his-extra-marital-affair-in-2019-beau-rothwell-made-list-of-pros-and-co/">convicted in April</a>, was also handed down four years for tampering with evidence, and four more for abandonment of a corpse. <br>Though Rothwell&#8217;s defense argued that the murder was not premeditated, as they sought the lesser charge of manslaughter but, Wesley Bell insisted that the depraved nature of the killing deserved the maximum sentencing that the prosecution was seeking. <br>&#8216;We issued this case of murder first and as was stated in sentencing today, we never made any other offers,&#8217; Bell said after the sentencing, &#8216;That was not an option. We felt that this individual needed to be held accountable for his actions and that&#8217;s what we were intent on doing.&#8217; </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Rothwell admitted to killing his wife in court, and apologized to her family during his sentencing. <br>&#8216;To Jennifer&#8217;s family, words cannot describe how sorry I am. This should have never happened,&#8217; he said.<br>The defendant testified that on November 11, 2019, he got into a heated row with his wife over an affair he was having with another woman. The also argued over her pregnancy. <br>He confessed to striking the back of her head with a mallet, which sent her stumbling towards their home&#8217;s garage. He said he followed her and continued to attack her, ultimately killing her. <br>Jennifer was six weeks pregnant at the time of her murder. <br>&#8216;In the heat of everything, I hit her again,&#8217; he said in court, &#8216;I believe I cracked her skull. She fell unconscious and fell down the stairs.&#8217; </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Rothwell testified he went into &#8216;panic mode&#8217; in the aftermath of the murder. <br>He then attempted to haphazardly cover up the murder and stage her disappearance.<br>Rothwell told the court that he bought cleaning supplies and attempted to bleach his dead wife&#8217;s blood from the house. He drove her car to an intersection and abandoned it there, and tossed a blood-stained tarp and the cleaning supplies away together in a nearby dumpster. <br>He dumped her naked corpse in the woods off Highway 61, then reported her missing, sent concerned texts to her cellphone, and took part in a search party.<br>It only took a day for authorities to identify still damp bleach and blood in the couple&#8217;s home and arrest Rothwell. <br>Jennifer&#8217;s body was found a week later on November 19. </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Though Rothwell testified that the murder the murder took place in a &#8216;red haze&#8217; of anger and that he was in &#8216;panic mode&#8217; as he covered it up, the prosecution dismissed the arguments for manslaughter and characterized him as a &#8216;meticulous planner.&#8217; <br>They showed jurors texts between Rothwell and his lover, and a pros and cons list he wrote about leaving his wife, then about six-weeks pregnant. </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Jennifer&#8217;s mother, Robin Von Hausen, delivered an emotional statement in to the court, saying ;&#8216;Jennifer was a bright light in our lives. We thought we would have more than 28 years with her. Gone are the moments of joy with friends and relatives.&#8217; ;</p>
