<p>A Texas mother and daughter who were shot and killed Thursday in a city just outside Waco have now been identified as family members mourn the losses. <br>Late Thursday evening, Lori Aviles, and her daughter Natalie Aviles were identified as two of the victims. Lori, 47, was a beloved nurse in the community, while 20-year-old Natalie, a student nurse aspired to become become a pediatrician.<br>The shooting took place in McGregor, Texas Thursday morning when law enforcement officials say a gunman shot and killed five people for unknown reasons. <br>The shooter reportedly, gunned down his two next door neighbors after killing his wife and two stepchildren.<br>The suspect Nicolas Jaimes-Hernandez, 35, was shot by police after they arrived at the crime scene at W. 8th St. and Monroe St. a little after 7:30 a.m.<br>Jaimes-Hernandez, a Mexican immigrant, was charged with felony aggravated assault with a deadly weapon on Friday,according to Texas Department of Public Safety Sgt. Ryan Howard. Other charges are said to be pending.</p>

<p>Jaime-Hernandez first shot his wife Monica Delgado, 38 and his two chidren Miguel Avila, 15 and 14-year-old Natallie Avila before killing Lorena Aviles and Natalie Aviles. <br>According to Delgado&#8217;s family Jaimes-Hernandez was Delgado&#8217;s husband but not the father of the two children. <br>She leaves behind three other kids &#8211; Jesus Avila, 8, as well as the two youngest Julissa Jaimes, 6, and Nicolas Jaimes, 4, whom she shared with the suspect.<br>Lorena Aviles is survived by her two sons.</p>

<p>On Friday a vigil was held by the community at Bethlehem Christian Church where Lori and Natalie Aviles both served as church leaders.<br>The Aviles were &#8216;innocent victims in an act of gun violence&#8217; family said in a description<a rel="noreferrer noopener" href="https://www.gofundme.com/f/gwn5wb-family?qid=1f79402d1184106e66281dbbd8081007" target="_blank"> posted to a GoFundMe page</a>. The page has raised nearly $24,500 of the $40,000 goal.<br>One family member, Olivia Olvera, <a rel="noreferrer noopener" href="https://www.facebook.com/photo?fbid=1405765650246134&;set=pcb.1405744666914899" target="_blank">said in a social media post</a> that Lori and Natalie were gunned down by a &#8216;cowardly man&#8217; who lived &#8216;next door.&#8217; <br>&#8216;Our dear sweet Lori &; Natalie have been called home to rejoice with our Lord &; Savior,&#8217; organizers of the fundraiser wrote. &#8216;This GoFundMe is for anyone who’d like to help with any expenses.&#8217; <br>The GoFundMe also asks for thoughts and prayers for Lori&#8217;s two sons, Ezra and Zion, who were not injured in the shooting. </p>

<p>&#8216;I am still in shock and disbelief. They did not deserve to have this happen to them and I’ll never understand why. Two people that loved God, their family, and friends. Natalie was a beautiful young girl, full of life, following her dreams of becoming a doctor . . . always had a smile on her face,&#8217; the family member said.<br>According to Lori&#8217;s neice Ashley Sanchez, her cousin Natalie was hoping to follow in the footsteps of her mom, a nurse who worked at a hospital in the area. She had dreams of becoming a pediatrician.<br>&#8216;Lori was a beautiful and amazing woman that has achieved much in her life and was great at loving and taking care of those around her, especially at the hospital where she worked,&#8217; Ashley<a href="https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100010672517749"> wrote</a> in a tribute.</p>

<p>The tragedy comes almost exactly two years after Lori&#8217;s husband and the children&#8217;s father, Mike Aviles, died from colorectal cancer in October 2020. The couple have two surving sons Ezra and Zion.<br>According to Natalie&#8217;s Facebook page, her father&#8217;s battle with cancer prompted her to get involved in colorectal cancer awareness movement. <br>Lori and Natalie were both also heavily involved in their local church, the Bethlehem Christian Church. </p>

<p>Law enforcement officers said Top law enforcement they were called to the scene of the 900 block of Monroe Street around 8 a.m. on Thursday. <br>&#8216;This is saddening information to actually have to put out, and stand up and give you today and thoughts and prayers and hopes for successful healing for the McGregor community,&#8217; Sgt. Ryan Howard with DEpt. of Public Safety said during a Thursday afternoon press conference.<br>&#8216;We have learned an update in the case, and currently working this case we have five people that are confirmed deceased from the incident that transpired this morning.&#8217;<br>The shooeter Nicolas Jaime-Hernandez was reportedly shot by police and taken to the hospital. Sgt. Howard said he sustained &#8216;critical&#8217; but not life-threatening injuries.</p>
